The hostel lacked a bit of coziness, a bit expensive for what you get compared to other hostels in NZ and the service you get. You have to make and undo your own bed when you arrive and leave. No privacy curtains on the top bunks.

Beds were comfortable, the kitchen area was spacious, and the living area had a nice view on the lake. There are hair dryers in the bathrooms, which is quite useful for winter

No view from the cabin, very cold to go outside to use toilet or other shared areas. Smoke alarm led to an evacuation outdoors at night - this was blamed on the fireplace in the common area

Charging devices a bit awkward, no points at each bed space so couldn’t really keep my things beside me. Privacy could have been improved by having a blackout not sheer curtain on the bunks.

Location is great, as names suggests right on the lake front, beautiful views. Was good to have the private bathroom.

Please encourage guests to wipe down the multi-use tables in the common area if they have spilt something. When I extended my stay by one night, I vacated my first room by 10am and handed in the key as requested, but then the receptionist insisted she couldn't give me the key to my new room until 2pm. This effectively meant I would have been locked out of the hostel for 4 hours, had I not banged into the off-duty manager, who rectified this for me.

I loved the design and location of the hostel, with it's huge common room window looking out to the lakeshore, only a minute's walk away. From there, I had a clear view of the Milky Way on my first night, although I was only 1km from the shopping centre. The hostel was very busy, but guests cleaned up after themselves both nights I was there, so that the kitchen was spotless and staff kept rooms the same.

The directions on the map were confusing and I spent 20 mins just searching for my cottage. One i got it, was pretty accessible Also the room didnt have any cooktop. We were hoping to cook food by ourselves. Else there is a common kitchen which can be used to cook, but is mostly quite busy.

The location was just in front of lake tekapo. However if you arrive late its difficult to findout your cottage in the dark. Room was spacious with bathroom attached. You can park your car just in front of your cottage.

The kitchen is a bit small so it will be very crowded during dinner time and don't have enough space for everyone to enjoy the dinner

A bit far from the city center but they compensate with a van that takes you to/from it when you check in and check out.

The place is very well organized, clean and comfortable. Dorms are really good.

Guests were great at keeping the kitchen clean, but is it possible to educate them to also clean up spills on tables? These same tables are used for eating, writing, playing board and card games, etc.

If you are in Tekapo for star gazing and tours are booked out, this is a good location. This busy, well-run, lake front hostel is 1km from the nearest store, so a clear view of the milky way can be seen with the naked eye. Owing to extending my stay, I had two different rooms with comfortable bunk beds but had no noise disturbance in either. This is an excellent location for walkers.

The room is tiny and the punks have minimal privacy. I was unlucky as my roommates arrived late in the night and were quite noisy, moving in and out of the room.
