Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomWe stayed initially for 3 nights and ended up using it as a base pre and post jungle trip and also pre and post Salkantay trip. Carmen is an absolute gem, allowing early check in when it was possibly and storage of bags as well as a delightful breakfast each morning. Lovely to have a little kitchenette and lovely cosy bed for the cool nights in Cusco.

United StatesThese aren't complaints, just an "FYI": this location is about 50 steps up from the main street (so keep this is mind if you're not used to the altitude yet), and there are several more steps depending on which room you'll have. The listing (for the studio apartment which I booked) also mentions having a balcony and/or patio, but it is not private - it seems like it is communal actually, as breakfast is served at one, and I saw another space with a table and chairs on the other side of the place. Lastly, the owner Carmen only accepts cash at the time of check-in, which was not indicated when I booked online; luckily I had cash on hand to give her, otherwise I probably would have had to walk around Cusco by myself at 20:00/8:00pm for an ATM.
I booked a "studio apartment" room that had 2 beds (even though I was traveling alone and only needed 1, but the bed was comfortable) but I appreciated having a refrigerator and kitchenette, as I expected that I needed to use them at at least once during my stay in Cusco. Carmen cleaned my room during the day, which I was not expecting at all, and she offers a nice little breakfast which includes bread, eggs, fruit, juice, and tea/ coffee within a 2 hour time frame every morning.

United KingdomThe stairs outside are a killer at altitude. Sometimes good distributed by people going for tours early in the morning, but it was v v minimal.
This little room was the perfect stay in Cusco. The room was nice and the lady running it was so accommodating. She let us keep our bags there for a few days when we went to Machu Picchu. WiFi was good, room wasn’t too cold thanks to all the blankets.

CanadaThe hot water needs to be upgraded, it was at best, lukewarm.
The apartment is centrally located, clean and my room had a lovely view over the city. The staff are pleasant, and accomadating, and the breakfast was good. The apartment, though a bit cramped, was well equiped for cooking.

United KingdomNothing to dislike.
Senora Carmen was super nice!! I made a mistake with the booking and she helped change it, at no extra cost. She also gave us tips about Cusco. The Treehouse has to be Cusco's most charming accommodation. Nothing is square or lines up exactly but all studio rooms are built around this tree that grows in the middle of the building and everywhere are lovely pots with plants and and it's just so cute and charming. A series of stairs eventually lead you to a sunny roof terrace (covered) where breakfast is served. Breakfast is freshly prepared when you arrive and consists of fresh fruit, eggs, bread, jam, fresh fruit juice and tea/coffee. We also like that the room wasn't cold like our previous accommodation, despite no heating.

NetherlandsThe tapwater is not so trustworthy. Often is splashes and runs incontinuously. Experienced this in two rooms. One night it even went dry completely.
Great atmosphere in this cosy hotel. Lives up to the nickname treehouse. Situated in a great neighborhood of Cusco. Carmen is one of the friendliest hosts I've met on my journey.

Beautiful property which winds up an old tree - wonderful, large, well-insulated rooms with plenty of natural light, incredible view from the top floor where breakfast is served each morning. TASTY breakfast made with love (milk with coffee, fresh fruit juice blended by handed). Nothing was too bigger ask for the lovely woman who owns/manages the place - we felt very looked after and welcomed always.

United KingdomJust had the most incredible stay at Casa de Mama in Cusco! Feeling so grateful for this beautiful experience. 🙏✨ From the moment I stepped foot into this charming hotel, I was greeted with warm smiles and genuine hospitality. The staff here truly goes above and beyond to make you feel at home, and I couldn't be more thankful for their kindness and attentiveness throughout my stay. The rooms are absolutely beautiful, with breathtaking views of the city and cozy, comfortable beds that made it hard to leave in the mornings. Not to mention, the location is perfect! Casa de Mama is nestled in the heart of Cusco, just a short walk away from the main square and all the vibrant markets, shops, and restaurants. Exploring the city was a breeze, and I loved being able to immerse myself in the rich culture and history of this incredible place. But what truly sets Casa de Mama apart is the genuine care they have for their guests. If you're planning a trip to Cusco, I highly recommend staying at Casa de Mama. Trust me, you won't be disappointed. Thank you, Casa de Mama, for an unforgettable experience. I can't wait to return someday.

RomaniaThe room was incredibly cold - it was only bearable under all the blankets, in bed. Also, floors are a bit squeaky, so with everyone leaving at 3/4/5 AM for tours, we always got an early wake-up (and I'm not a light sleeper) - but tbh this might be an issue in many places across Cusco.
Good value for money, great location close to centre, nicely furnished room, hot showers, good wifi, friendly host.

And what I loved the most was the view from the house.... And a so such beautiful common on the roof top. That was one of my favorite places. It was such an amazing stay in this house. 👏 This is the best place to chill and enjoy, therefore, I recommend to stay slightly longer than one night.. it's fantastic.. the whole atmosphere👌100🌟

United StatesThe stairs are a real killer for the first few days at 11,000 feet.
The building looks ordinary on the outside, but once you get inside you can see the rooms are built around a walkway that spirals up around a tree that grows on the property. It’s a quirky mix of rustic and modern and I loved it. Breakfast is served on the top of the house in a dining room with expansive views across the city. Staff is super friendly and helpful, and let me store my bags in the luggage room when I went away to Machu Picchu for the weekend. the internet was good enough to support remote work and Zoom calls.
