Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

FranceNot much to say. Be ready to walk up a few steps to get to the hostel, but nothing too hard. You'll enjoy the awesome view from the city!
Everything about Samay Wasi hostel is great: Starting from the staff, who is always available to help and is very well organised. Hostel has this nice family vibe. The view from the dorm and the terrace were incredible. San Blas is a cute neighborhood and you will get to the main plaza in 10 min walk. The products served at breakfast are yummy: fresh orange juice, good bread, good coffee... Never had any issue with hot shower (good pressure, and always had very hot water), unlike in lots of other places in Cusco.

NetherlandsThe breakfast is really basic with only bread and jam. But, the orange jus is freshly made so that’s great!
The view is incredible and the hostel has ‘home’ feeling because of the living/ dining area and the super friendly staff. Besides, the house cat is adorable and likes to cuddle. The showers are warm and the location is perfect with a lot of incredible restaurants and coffee spots in the streets next to it.

AustriaThe staff is very friendly, helpful, and speaks English. There is someone available 24/7. The hostel's location is excellent, surrounded by nice cafes and restaurants. The hostel itself has a terrace with a beautiful view of Cusco. Hot water for tea is available round the clock, which is great! Breakfast is very simple with bread, butter, jam, and freshly squeezed orange juice.

The stuff is very friendly and I was able to spontaneously reschedule the dates. Amazing views over Cusco!

NetherlandsThe rooms are quite small and so is the bathroom in the ensuite rooms (which can be a bit annoying for tall gringo’s…). Also more places to hang your clothes on would be an upgrade. The kitchen has everything you need, but is also too small for the amount of people using it. Just don’t be in a hurry if you want to use it :)
The hostel is located in the beautiful area of San Blas. Quiet, but surrounded by nice restaurants and coffee bars. The breakfast is simple but good (bread, 2 eggs, juice, coffee/tea, butter and jam), served by very kind ladies, and there is free tea all day long. Christian, the guy at the reception during the morning and early afternoon is very kind and helpful. Showers have hot water. The rooftop terrace (with great view!) and other shared areas are cosy, and there are three different guitars to use.

IsraelDidn't have any problem with that- but take into account that the hostel is located up the neighborhood so there are a lot of stairs in the way.
Great value for money! The staff were very kind and welcoming, the room was clean and the bed was comfortable. The shower was great! Hot water and strong stream! Breakfast was very basic, laundry service was good too.

CanadaThe communal indoor space isn't very big. With just a few guests working on their laptops in it, every time I had to open the door to pass through, I felt like I was interrupting them. When I inquired at the front desk about the price of a driver for some ruins I wanted to visit, they didn't seem to be able to help, so I ended up just finding one on my own.
For my stay in Cusco, I spent a few nights in a more expensive guesthouse, then balanced it out with a few nights in a cheaper hostel (this one, private room). I was very happy with my hostel choice. Yes, it's a hike up to it, but that's what I expected, and the reward is the amazing view. Even my bedroom window had a great view. Bed was cozy and the room was warm at night thanks to heater – it was actually warmer than the more expensive hotel I had stayed in. Shower was always hot, which is key. I also liked the cat.

Nice location in a lovely neighbourhood, amazing view. Big clean room, with comfy bed. Friendly and helpful staff. We were able to check in earlier and store our bags while doing the inca treck. Close to centre and nice walks nearby to Cristo Blanco and Sacsayhuaman.

Sloveniathere is a wooden floor balcony in front of the rooms and when people go out from other rooms, they have to pass in front of your room and you can hear all the steps. but i think this is also a matter of education, because if you walk slowly (expecially during the night), you will no bother anyone.
we loved our stay in Samay Wasi Hostel. the room was very cozy and beautiful. The best is the view! we loved also that there was heating and hot water! Breakfast was also good! Thanks!

United StatesOnly two dorms, the rest are privates. Dorms are really lack of ventilation since the windows don’t open. There were some very annoying long term guests. they occupied hostel’s only warm common space all day, playing guitars, singing, make silly jokes and man-child noise. they should be reminded of being respectful towards other guests. Also there is a cat who sleeps in the dorm. Maybe plus or minus for you.
perhaps best view for a hostel in Cusco. Very friendly staff, hot shower.

United KingdomMinor things - There were many ants in the bathroom - Accessibility: If you have difficulty with stairs, I do not recommend this hostel
I was in the shared room for 9 nights. I strongly recommend this hostel - Amazing team, available 24h. I have a lot to thank for all the support they have offered - contacting tour guides, changing my room when I needed, they helped me have the best experience in cusco. 10/10. - Incredible view. Seriously, you couldn't find a better view elsewhere. Being able to just sit in the terrace with a cup of tea in the morning or in the evening was an amazing experience. - It was located 10-15 minute from the Plaza de Armas, in the San Blas neighbourhood, with nice restaurants around (with both ceviche and vegetarian options, as well as cafes). It was challenging to get there on the first day because I wasn't acclimatised to the higher altitudes, but soon it got better. - Since it wasn't at the Plaza de Armas, there was little noise overnight, which enabled a good night of sleep - The free transfer from the airport was also quite useful - Breakfast: I liked the freshly squeezed orange juice and tea, which were offered even on the day that I had a tour departing at 3.30am. - Warm water in the shower, with a strong jet - They offered a place for free to leave the excess luggage during the 4-day inca trail - Clean space - They offered tea and coca 24h - perfect for when you arrived in the night feeling cold - Warm bed, I was able to stay warm despite the cold outside - Good cost-benefit for the region
