Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesThe mattress was a little firm; no other dislikes.
Excellent, attentive service by Pawan and our hosts Joao and Ernestina took a lot of personal time to share their estate and history of their family. The wine tasting was intimate, in the wine cellar, conducted by Joao himself...excellent bkfst...the manor is like a museum...I felt like I was walking in a home preserved from the 17th century. Great visit and introduction for us to the Douro Valley.

EstoniaBreakfast could have had a little more choice.
Nice 18th cent. manor house surrounded with big garden. We stayed in junior suite, which was furnished with antique furniture, our own living room was very spacious, also sleeping room was big enough. I would have liked to organize tea parties, everything was so authentic :) Very friendly owner, good and diligent staff. The owner of the manor, Mr.Azeredo provided us any information we needed, about local attractions, restaurants, wine cellars etc. He also made a nice tour of his own cellar with tasting. The house also offered dinner, which is a pleasant opportunity to enjoy local traditional food and the house's own wines.

United StatesBeing a historic home, there was no central air conditioning which could make things a bit stuffy. However, the rooms were equipped with air purifiers and with the windows open, it was quite nice and made sleeping comfortable.
Amazing 18th century historical property. The hosts and staff were gracious and very accommodating. We learned much about the history of the manor house and it’s family, the property and their estate wines. The grounds are beautiful with breakfasts in the lovely garden, walks through the vineyard and cocktails and port on the patio overlooking the Douro River and city of Regua.

Our stay was incredible staying at this very old wine yard in the middle of the Douro Valley so authentic. This is not a hotel this is an old family house where you are invited and treated as you are a part of the family!

United StatesThe bathroom was located up 6 steps above the room which made it a little challenging in the night.
We arranged to have the private meal on the day we arrived which was wonderful. We were served a 5 course meal on the terrace overlooking the Douro River and the town across the river. The host was very gracious and helpful.

United KingdomThere was no access to tea or coffee during the day, no facilities in the room. The tea at breakfast was undrinkable. Luckily we had our own T bags. The Bathroom in the room was OK but very small and not really of the standard I would expect for the price.
I liked walking through the grounds and gardens of the villa. The room was nice and cool. It was spacious. The breakfast was in a lovely dining room. The villa was a short walk to the restaurants of Ragua. We had a good view from the room but we paid for a river facing room, they may not all have good views.

GermanyIt was a bit loud with road noises, which surprised us since it wasn't located in town. We had to keep the window open at night to stay cool, and that made it a bit loud. We did opt for dinner though pricey, described as a 4 course meal. While the quality of the meal was nice (very authentic and served in a very traditional style), it was over-priced.
The view from our room and from the common areas, overlooking the river and town are great! It is a very historical property and has many antiques. The wines made by the owner were excellent with dinner.

SwedenThe location and property are fabulous if one looks for something special. This old mansion and vineyard has a very special atmosphere and together with the exceptionally friendly and helpful staff and owners we had a very enjoyable time there. The dinner which we had one evening on the terass was excellent, with many servings, superb service and extraordinary wines. The breakfast in the old dining room is a special treat, with home made bread, cakes, the best orange juice ever and good coffee. We especially appreciated that vegetables, fruits and berries provided at dinner and breakfast came from the mansion's garden, or from local producers. We came by train and with taxis lining up outside the station we reached the mansion by a 5 min taxi ride. We could easily reach other parts of Douro region by train, boat, taxi and also enjoyed walks in the property and longer walks to neighboring vineyards, several which have guided wine tours. The tips and help from the owners were invaluable in finding ways to get aorund without a car, and they also made an extra effort to find a solution when we wanted to stay en extra night.

United StatesAccess to the main house requires a climb up a steep , long set of stairs. For those with disabilities and some elderly this may present a challange.
The staff, Anoo and Sapana, 2 Nepalese girls, were sweet and unfailingly helpful. The hotel and our room overlooked the Douro river. The grounds were extensive with many patios that viewed the river. This is a working winery.

The property is owned by the sixth generation. The owner and his wife were very hospitable and welcomed us into their lovely old home. The property is situated on a vineyard and grows and bottles really great wine especially the rose'. The breakfast was in the garden and of excellent quality. The house overlooks the Douro river and an easy walk across the bridge to the town .A great place to take a drive up the douro river from. We would highly recommend this property

Estoniathe staff could use some upgrade as well as training - could be due to covid period that trained/experienced people are hard to find; I would do some refurbishing of the outside porch (change chairs and tables) and electricity cables in the room to improve safety. One cannot expect all the same conveniences as in modern hotels or apartments so longer-term stay would be a bit problematic (tiny bathroom, no TV, etc.)
nice and old house with a rustic feel, good view on Regua and Douro river, the owners are really helpful and welcoming and gave a lot of info;
