Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Czech RepublicThe bed is a bit smallish.
Of all the islands I visited Sao Jorge is the most rugged. Man has forged a living among the steep hills and the cliffs descending into the ocean. Here also the hotel has carved a space with wide views and with a garden that gradually gives way to nature. The rooms are self contained cottages made of rough volcanic stone, partly covered by moss. It is not a place for the disabled unfortunately, there are uneven stone paths and steep climbs. But the people are very nice and the food is superb.

NetherlandsThe car park can be a bit busy when it is full in the restaurant.
Hotel was a bit hidden away through some very small streets, but is located at a beautiful location. From the hotel there is a very nice view over the ocean, and you can see the other islands (Pico and Faial) in the distance. Very friendly staff that gave us good recommendations for places to visit on the island, and were also very helpful during the serving of the breakfast. The hotel also has a restaurant, which serves some good dinner for not too much money.

ItalyWe were at the restaurant and it was excellent. It was a pity that the service at their restaurant was not good as the food was.
The location and the view were spectacular. It was far from the street so very quite and it was on the top of a hill then it was very chill in the night, perfect for a good sleep.

ItalyUnique place to stay that will make you enjoy even more the island of Sao Jorge! Staff was very welcoming and available. The breakfast is very abundant and delicious and the restaurant was so great that we ended up having dinner there three nights in a row. Food is fresh, most of it is grown on the property. The view on Pico on clear days is outstanding!

GermanyThe kitchen was not complete enough for being able to cook. However, there is a fridge available.
Leticia was a great host, she was really open to answer all our questions and doubts. You have a complete apartment for yourself, tons of space. The breakfast was the best during our roundtrip through Azores. There was variety of fruits, eggs and also cheese. Direct in the same location, there is a good restaurant, from which you can enjoy a great view of Pico.

GermanyLovely little chalets with a beautiful view, nice pool and a very sympathetic manager of the hotel. The restaurant has some delicious regional food and an excellent Gin tonic to enjoy the view on the terrace outside. The breakfast was prepared for every guest and included coffee, self-made juice, crepes, bread with honey and some marmelade and cheese of the island. They also scrambled some eggs for us. The landscape of the island is magneficent. We loved to spend some days here!

United StatesWe loved our stay at the hotel. The owner and her family are so warm and kind and immediately make you feel at home. We loved the personal touch of being greeted at the entrance and being shown around the property. The individual cottages / room complex feel very authentic to the island and the view of Pico and Faial from the windows alone make the stay here amazing. The property is conveniently located only ~5min from the airport, but tucked away on a side road that is surrounded by greenery and you can here the sound of nature all around you. We loved that the price included breakfast in the morning which delicious and very filling. You will not want to eat breakfast anywhere else. And it features local ingredients and products like eggs, cheese, honey, jams, fresh bread and fruits. Another plus is that the restaurant on the property Fornos de Lava is also delicious (this is the same place that you eat breakfast). We ate dinner here both night during our stay because the food was so good. It featured local products. We loved the filet mignon (the meat was so tender) and the cataplana of fish and shrimp. We will easily stay here again next time we visit.
