Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.

Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

LithuaniaI wish your staff would know English because it was hard to communicate during arrival... Also, description is falsie because it was said that we will have private balcony but we had to share it with other renters.. Walls are thin, if neighbors are noisy you will not get a nice rest.
Bed was really big, hot shower, towels.

Czech RepublicBEDBUGS everywhere!!! Everything wrong. At first we couldn't find the accommodation because of no sign. Then we weren't able to communicate with housecleaner - she doesn't speak english at all. And the top of everything - after the first night I've got over 30 bites from bedbugs - several tiny bedbugs in the bed and a clear proof on the wall - an adult bedbug. If you don't want to bring them home, don't go there! The host obviously doesn't care and accommodates without any conscience other guests! Money above all else. Mrs. Catarina Cunha promised to have the room disinsected. We left the house and Mrs. Cunha is no longer answering. They didn't give us any refund for the next two unused nights, they basically stole our money!!!

SerbiaI'm not demanding, especially since I only need accommodation to sleep, but this was very bad. We were charged extra for cleaning the room, and for seven days, the cleaning lady did not scrub anything, nor did the bed linen or towels change from the first day. In the room, there were bedbug-like bugs on the bedclothes. Other parts of the hostel were also in very bad condition. The only positive thing is that on the day of check-out, they allowed us to leave our suitcases at the hostel until we got to the airport.

United StatesThere was no reception, the place desperately needs a remodel, I got bed bugs here (they should call an extermination expert), and charging someone a late check-in fee after 5:00 pm is extortion. There was a storage room by my balcony connected to the shared bathroom window, and someone could have broken into my room and stolen my belongings.
The view was the only good feature

United StatesThe walls are paper thin and you can hear everyone in the room next door breathing, there isn’t a mirror in the rooms and with the bathroom being shared it’s hard to get ready. The other guests were not considerate of late night hours and were often very loud. The location is a long walk from the main tourist spots (45mins average) which adds up if you decide to Uber or Bolt.
The panoramic view from the terrace was beautiful. By far the best part about this location.
