Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesIt was a little chilly at first but I quickly got used to it. Besides, it was overshadowed by the overall charm of the place and staff.
In city center, on the pedestrian street just meters away from Praça Republica. Charming, hospitable staff. Cozy atmosphere, decor—the room, breakfast room and sitting room with book collection and tv. Also the fridge in the bar for guests’ shared use. Generous breakfast, with gluten-free accommodations.

United KingdomThe bathroom was terrible. Needs replacing. There never seemed to be any hot water, so luke warm showers only.. No plug for bath. First time I tried it the water was brown. Shame really because it spoiled the rest of the room. Spend some money on the bathroom and you'll be able to charge more. The price was very reasonable.
Lots of charming features to the guest house, and right in the heart of the town Nice balcony and French doors with shutters

PortugalOnly one of the towels has a dirt.
The location of the hotel was awesome. The staff was there to meet with us with a huge smile 😃 The rooms were clean, simple, neat, and have little details. The lobby is amazing with old furniture, and we feel like we're in an antique house.

location central, yet was very quiet, comfortable good bed, friendly and really helpful staff, beautiful antiques throughout the property and the bedrooms have been recently done with good taste and not overstated elegant style.

PortugalThere was no plug for the bath and the shower did not have a bracket on the wall so it was quite difficult to shower.
Very central for the square so in a perfect location. This is a very traditional Portuguese pension and is a very welcoming place. The staff are very helpful. Sadly after the pandemic they no longer serve breakfast but that is reflected in the cost of the room and there are several places within metres to get something to eat. Our room overlooked the road but it was very peaceful . There was everything there you may need .

SpainThe worst thing for me are the furnitures. Extremely old. Would be great if they change the furnitures, look that you are in the XIX Century. Fortunately everything is very clean, but my suggestion is to change the furniture and modernize in general the hotel.
Location, staff and cleanlines. The location is perfect. The staff is very nice and very aware of everything, they really make you feel comfortable. The cleanliness of the room was very ok and the bed very comfortable.

IsraelNot a very modern hostel, just don't expect too much
Ancient building, a bit gloomy (not a very lively place), but located in the main street of the historical section of Tomar, so for me it was the best and definitely worth the price.

United StatesRoom a bit small, beds kind of hard yet they were ok. Narrow steep stairs to get to second floor. Pretty basic accommodations.
Very nice helpful host. Nice clean room. Access to a full sized refrigerator ( we were able to make ice which was a bonus). Charming place if not a bit quirky. Shame the kitchen wasn’t more serviceable. Right in the middle of town, great location.

Charming, old-styled hotel in the pedestrian zone in the historic town center. Our room was comfortable with an amazing balcony overlooking the rooftops of the old town. The hotel does not serve breakfast, but there are many cafés and restaurants in the area. We recommend pastelaria at the end of Rua da Silva Magalhães for breakfast and delicious sweet and savory pastries. (I think its name is Rialto, but I'm not sure.)

United StatesThe reason I booked this place, was because it had a bar, was open 24 hrs and had charm. When I got there the place was closed and dark. I called the phone listed and someone came to check me in. However it looked like the place was closed for the season. When we were directed to our room I realize that we still had to go another floor of very steep stairs. I could not imagine doing them a few times a day. Victor suggested we look at his other hotel which was near by. Didn't have the charm, but had ground floor rooms and an elevator. This other place was closer to the river and park. Was not what we wanted, but it did workout ok in the end.
Spotless. Close to park. The basic comforts.
