Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

IrelandThe room is not worth the money. Very old, doesn't look like the photos. It isn't comfy. You have to go up to top floor, no elevator, stairs only. Not equipped well. Shared kitchen. And because of 1 minute (literarily) arriving after the time agreed (because lots of streets were closed and couldn't get there earlier), I got charged extra for the check-in. Although I was there before the time but couldn't find the exact apartment because there were no signs, and when I called the staff, that was 1 minute passed the time.
Great location, very central.

Finland1. Key pick up from another address - have to plan ahead how you gonna do it on the way from the airport 2. Apartments are on the 4th floor, which you have to climb with old stairs - unless you are in a good shape or not traveling with elder relatives - avoid this place 3. The kitchen is apparently shared - was not mentioned in booking - making it sometimes impossible to have a meal, as all the plates/cups were already occupied by other rooms tenants 4. MOLD in the bathroom (and kitchen ceiling !!!) - DISGUSTING and dangerous !!! 5. The overall state of the place is just doesn't comply with the pics that were probably taken 10years ago - everything looks used, bed makes noise even if you just look at it, walls are covered with marks
The location of the place for a first timers in Lisbon is perfect! Close to two metro stations, main attractions etc. Good for a backpack traveller who is only interested in a place to sleep while exploring the city

United KingdomWe stayed for 7 nights and got 2 bathroom towels and only one hand towel. Maybe it would be a good idea to leave some more extra towels. Key collection - on their profile in several parts on booking.com and after the booking it says that the keys will need to be collected at the property and only one little part on the profile gives completely different address for the key collection. Also, other people reviews said that the keys needs to be collected else where. 4 days before my trip, every single day I was contacting them to clarify the address for the key collection but didn’t get any response. Only on the day of staying at around midday they send me a message asking when I am arriving and with the completely different address for keys collection. So, not very organised and communication not great. It takes a lot of time to travel to another location just to collect the keys. There are so many safety boxes on the top floor, why the keys can’t be left there? For the last couple of evenings someone didn’t listen the instructions that the street door shouldn’t be locked, just closed behind. So, we couldn’t even leave the building! We had to ask stranger to stop by the door and pass the key through a little gab, so the door would be unlocked… not the great experience, especially if you need to go to the airport…
The property is located in the city centre. So, it is quite noisy but you can reach all famous attractions just on foot. Yes, the apartment was on the top floor, and yes, it doesn’t have an elevator but most of all the old buildings in Portugal don’t have elevators. The kitchen was shared and it was clean, however there could be more essential utensils such as wine opener. The apartment was clean, reasonably comfortable bed.

ItalyThe apartment wasn’t clean: the bathtub had still some water on the glass around it, the pavement had some footprints on it, the bed had some hair in it. It wasn’t pleasant. Also, nobody told us that the kitchen would have been shared with the people in the apartment next to us. We didn’t use the kitchen after all, but it would have been nice to know ahead of arriving.
The best thing about this apartment is the view from the bedroom: you can see the rooftops of all the buildings nearby, the streets and the hills surrounding the city; there’s a really magic atmosphere, especially at night. Also, the position is strategic: right into the city centre, close to both metro stations and bus stops. Very convenient!

CanadaFirst of all we were put in the attic of the building. 10 stories up. If we didn’t have luggage it wouldn’t have been a problem but omg it was brutal getting it up and down those stairs. There was a shared kitchen but it was missing many necessities like dish soap, a dish towel, kitchen knifes, a frying pan, and there was no hand soap for the bathroom. No AC, it got super warm at night. And when the windows are open you hear the noice from the busy streets below. There was many other disappointing things about this apartment and I feel it was a huge cost for the value. I’m not one to complain but I had to share.
The location. Thats it.

AustraliaDO NOT STAY HERE! Deceptive Slum lords advertising this black mould infested property at exorbitant prices for tourists. It isn’t an apartment as seen in the photos, it is a room completely covered with mould. You will find it most visible in the bathroom but it has peen painted over in the bedroom, however mould is in the mattress and pillows. When I arrived the (separate & shared) kitchen area was full with 4 bags of garbage, which smelt like decaying corpses. For 2 days until it was cleaned I had to hold my breath on entry! Got rather unwell during my stay,

United KingdomThe apartment was right up on the fourth floor and there was no elevator - not good if you're carrying heavy luggage. This is something that should have been pointed out on the websites at the time of the booking. The apartment wasn't cleaned anywhere near often enough and I had to phone a number of times to remind the staff to come round and do it. Also, I had to phone to ask for clean towels and toilet roll - there should have been a plentiful supply stored in the apartment. There was mould on the bathroom and kitchen ceilings and the extractor fan in the bathroom didn't work.
The location was good. Plenty of good, reasonably priced restaurant in the immediate vicinity.

After they gave us an other number, they told us, we didn’t booked the hotel and there had to be a problem with booking.com. After we where about to book an other hotel, approaching guests told us, they have had the same issues. They gave us a telephone number, which connected us to the actual Manager of the apparent.

United Arab EmiratesWhat they don’t make clear at all when checking in is that you have to drive 20 mins away to collect the keys to the property. I specify booked it because it was very central so pointless when you arrive and have to go very far out when collecting the keys. Also there was an extra €60 in hidden fees. Booking.com price it for €67 but it actually cost me €119. Not worth the money at all. You are also up 4 flights of stairs and with 2 heavy bags it was a nightmare and no air on or fan to cool you. I was woken up multiple times throughout the night with doors slamming and the locks on the door were so stiff it would take a-lot if efforts to open the doors.
Good location, that’s about it

They seems pro but are not. A nightmare to get the keys. The room are on the top floor 85 steps with shared kitchen. The bed was uncomfortable and the television with no sound. The room was not as per picture. The add on booking is NOT 100% correct. Definitely to avoid.
