There’s only one thing I’d suggest: having a shelf in the fridge labeled ‘for everyone’ as I think there was food getting leftover and it didn’t belong to anyone. Other than that there’s nothing one could need in this place.

Everything! Room was good, bed comfy, we’ve had everything we needed. Kitchen well equipped, hot shower, parking, terrace, hair dryer, iron, loads of books, lockers… Beautiful living room with so many wonderful things. Ah and the view!

I don't think there is anything that would make this hostel any better!

The waves hostel was the perfect place to stay for exploring the beautiful island of Madeira. Such good value for money, so nice to have your own room with some privacy, and the common areas were really well designed so that it felt very homely. Both the kitchen and bathroom were kept very clean throughout my stay. As a solo traveller I felt this was such a perfect base giving me a good mix of privacy and getting to meet lots of like-minded people on the island for hiking. And what an incredible view with it's location right next to the sea - I'll miss waking up to the sound of the waves!

My room was not so clean.

This hostel has vibes! Great place to chill and meet people and the owners are great. Super nice kitchen, records to play, books to read etc. And ofc the sound of the waves.

I was working whilst at the hostel and the WiFi was incredibly fast. For those wanting to explore the North of the island, this is a perfect base. It offers very reasonable prices and I can confidently say it is one of the cleanest hostels I have ever stayed in.

One of the best hostels I've ever been to!! I highly recommend it if you are planning to visit maideira on your own. Convenient parking in front of the structure, breathtaking view, possibility of meeting lots of guys, very well equipped kitchen and bathrooms, really well managed! Excellent location near Sao Vincente, with shops and restaurants on the street

We rent entire studio. The interior is very well arranged, cozy, not just basic like other properties for rent. They meet us with presents: a bottle of wine, cookies, traditional cake, beer and water, fruits, milk and cereals!!!! It melt my heart!❤️ No one has met us before like this! The view is breathtaking! Ocean, nature! I liked the location. Yes, it’s in the north and it’s colder but it’s not so crowded and more quiet region. If you rent a car, it shouldn’t bother you! There was all necessary in the kitchen - ALL. There are even towels for beach. There is really fonic isolation, when you close the window, the noise from the ocean is considerably reduced! Only one thing that I can say it bothered:the bed creaks loudly when you are more active! 😅

It was a beautiful location directly at the sea. The best part is having the opportunity to easily meet other solo travellers and go out there together.

Could have used a slightly bigger bed, but for the price and the fact that you have your own rooms this wasn’t a huge deal.

For me as someone who travels long term to many different places this is the perfect kind of hostel. Friendly hosts that make everything very easy. Small enough to be quiet and relaxing but set up in a way to still make it social with other guests. The privacy of individual rooms with no dormitory bunk beds but all the communal facilities you could need. Great common areas inside and out and fully stocked kitchen. Excellent location right on the sea. Nothing I could complain about.

the north coast is probably less sunny, facing more rain than the south coast, but nothing negative to say about the place The Waves.

incredible place on the north coast of Madeira : the feeth in the waves. large apartment for the use of 6 guests. warm welcome from owners of the place : they do the most to make your stay comfortable. Yong and older guests (50's +) sharing the common kitchen super equiped : few people were cooking during my stay, but sharing tips of visits and hikes, around the table during breakfast was very nice. large sitting room were you can sit and meet; large bedrooms with single beds : indeed they are at the side of the house with no windows, but guests were respectfull during my 10 days stay. I would recommend to hire a car to move around since more difficult with public transportation. however village and quite a few restaurants and a little supermarket with everything you need (at cheap prices) are only 1 km further. you can feel the waves , the ocean and it was a great detox stay. I didn't say yet that the price is absolutely low compared to the comfort and equipment you benefit from 25€/night....

the location is top notch!!!!! the waves indeed :) and the price was a real bargain for what it offers, one of the best hostels i have ever stay, and well… its more than a hostel, you got a private room… you have everything there, absolutely everything, very clean, and the owners are awsome people who does a superb job! thanks for everything Celio, hope to see you again!

The location is wonderful. The facilities are great. It's probably the best hostel I've ever stayed at. And I've stayed in lots of hostels.

The walls didn't reach the ceiling in the washrooms which is a bit strange, but not a massive issue in reality.

The location is absolutely stunning with a balcony right on the water and steps leading down to the rocks. It's a small hostel and therefore quiet. facilities were great and very clean.

Everything was great !

The view is exceptional and the sound of waves crashing is truly enjoyable. The apartment is spacious, well decorated and comfortable. We were greeted with wine and local specialties by the host which was really nice! All necessities are provided. 100% would recommend if you're looking for a at-home feel in Madeira.

What an incredible place. Perfectly located with easy access to key areas of interest around the island. Gerald was an incredibly friendly and welcoming host with a wealth of knowledge. I wish I could have stayed longer, needless to say i'll definitely be back!

Beds were a little rough after a few weeks

Great place directly at the sea with very helpful owner. It's great for solo travelers as well to be social or even work. Price value is almost unbeatable!

Location isn't great, the nearest shops are a 30minute walk one way. If you are less mobile or have big bags be ready for the stairs into the apartments.

Nice clean hostel, rooms are separate which is good. My room had a desk, floor lamp, long mirror the room was great. The staff are great, I arrived and late night and they had no problems with it. If you are lucky the owner brings fresh veg from his garden and leaves it in the kitchen for free.
