Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomDisappointed how the staff handled an issue with payment. The card machine didn't work and they made us get a taxi to the atm (which wasn't needed as was close enough to walk) We then got charged bank fees which added like an extra £10 to our bill along with the taxi fair. The aircon in our room didn't work either and no one came to help.
The location and vibe is great. Right on the beach. The food is excellent too

NetherlandsMy room was next to the bar and with a cupboard for cleaning materials next to my door. There was a lot of noise, except between midnight and 7:00 am. Bedsheets and towels were changed only once a week, especially for towels this was not sufficient. At breakfast time there was always a lot of cleaning going on, staff at the bar also had to sweep sand out.
The location on the beach was pleasant and good for our purpose of a photography workshop. Food was good, though choice limited.

DenmarkNot much information about the place and area and how to get around. But nothing serious.
Wonderful view over the sea and to Isle Ngor. Few meters to the pirogues taking you there which was nice because the water on the mainland beach is extremely dirty. Very good restaurant (and cozy seating on the beach if you want) with fresh fish. Good location in Ngor and Almadies. Room was basic but actually quite nice and very clean, bathroom too.

United StatesFishing trip tour arranged and owned by hotel was a rip off and tourist trip at $300 for 2ppl. No fish were caught and boat driver was driving dangerously. Asked for discount but did not receive one . Left a bad taste in our mouth. Would have got high rating otherwise. Also a bit pricier for very basic amenities. 5 star hotel nearby was same price.
Seafood restaurant really good. Beach near locals allows for more authentic experience. English not really spoken so that was a barrier to getting things quickly but Khalil was super helpful and can speak it and tried his best. Would have been rough without him.

United Kingdom- The staff weren't the friendliest I've encountered in Senegal. I ate at the restaurant which was alright but you pay for the location over the quality of the fish cooking.
- Great location on the beachfront. I moved from another hotel in Dakar so that I could leisurely explore the Ile de Ngor and have a beach day. Nice atmosphere at the beach bar and a great place for watching the world go past.

AustraliaThe only but of the property was the staff and probably the very expensive breakfast. Breakfast was 10 eur and was only a croissant, a beverage, bread and jam. Very expensive for Senegal. The staff need proper training from the manager. They aren't very pro active, helpful or attentive to detail. Im sure with proper training they would be great.
The space was very beautiful and clean. Located just on the beach which is always a treat. The room was so comfortable, with great mattresses, bed linen, aircon and sea breeze. We had a couple cockroaches. Besides that, it was very clean. The restaurant was really good, probably the beat meal We had after a month in Senegal. European prices, but worth it. Fresh oysters, the meat, the shrimps curry! We tried it all and would do it again. Staying in Ngor was nice and easy to get to Ngor island. There are so many taxis waiting outside of the hotel, which makes it comfortable but very intense. They will fight for you to go with them, and they'll charge expensive tourist prices.

GermanyDifficult if you don't speak french if you need a particular kind of help (by no means impossible). Location is rather far from major sights in Dakar (though to be fair, they are all quite far from one-another). Place is probably quite old and while taken good care of, could probably use some renovations quite soon
Great location directly on the beach in a lively Dakar neighbourhood. Excellent restaurant with good fish, and others a short walk away. Staff friendly and helpful, able to arrange cool day trips at an affordable rate and at fairly short notice, as well as direct transfer to the Isle of Ngor

IraqI upgraded my stay to the sea facing room, and was given one of the best and biggest rooms that had large bay windows facing the sea. I loved the hospitality, specially the professionalism of the manager, Khalil. He ensured that my stay was comfortable in every possible way. The food was excellent, and I mostly tried the fish based dishes which were very tasty and excellently cooked. The restaurant staff was always smiling and always helpful. They had some excellent suggestions for dinner when the menu seemed a bit overwhelming. The location of the property is right on the beach facing the Ngor island. Evenings on the beach were full of activities with people lounging on the sand and the locals carrying out the daily exercises. There was always a soft music on that complimented dinner, and the general vibe of the restaurant was very lively. I do recommend the property to anyone who is visiting Dakar and wants to stay on the beach.

SpainNot the properties fault but the sea was not always clean. This is a country’s issue rather than the hotel. I have to say though that every day there was someone going around to clean the beach and despite their efforts there was still some trash left. Again, not the property’s fault. The breakfast in my opinion could have more options, its very basic and they should have an extra person to support in the kitchen as its a lot to ask for one person from the staff to do it, especially if everyone decides to have breakfast in the hotel that day. Also adding more fruits, Senegal has good options! This is an improvement feedback.
The best part of the hotel for me has to be the dinning hall. It was all the right vibes and the staff was amazing even during Ramadan where it can be harder on them because if what it demands of them but they were still very nice and joyful and helpful. We had an issue with our room and they promptly helped and moved us to another better room. I wish I had told them earlier. The recommendation is if you have any issue let the staff know as they will do their best so that you have the best experience. The front beach view was also very nice though often windy. It was great to read a book and get some tan in the morning and at night it was nice to see the wrestlers train.

United StatesI did not like the reliability of the Wifi for room number 4. However, it worked great in the restaurant and bar areas. I wish that at dining, the service came back to check on me to see if I needed anything else. I would have spent more money.
I enjoyed my stay here on my first visit to the country. I was looking for a familiar beach setting with a relaxed vibe to ease me into my trip. La Cabane du Pecheur provided all of this. I was given a key to room #4 on arrival by Marie. She was friendly and could help and communicate with me despite my lack of French. The restaurant was closed that first day. (Mondays) I could walk around the area, enjoy the beach and get to know my surroundings. My room was comfortable and functional—a pleasant bed with mosquito netting, a closet/storage area, a semi-close outlet, and a big bathroom and good AC. There was a balcony (which I didn't use) and one small sitting chair inside. The water pressure was great and hot. Unfortunately, the wifi did not work well for me. The restaurant wifi had no problems, but in the room, it was weak and wouldn't connect or drop out. Thankfully my cell service (Google Fi) had a connection for me. The restaurant and bar area had many using laptops and wifi. Perhaps it wasn't reliable in their rooms as well? They are beautiful areas that are well-decorated and welcoming. In the mornings, Marie would make me a cafe au lait. Best coffee I had in my 11 days in Senegal. (Thank you) I had several glasses of wine throughout my stay, which were great, and a cold Flag beer or two. One night I dined with some lovely Gambas with white rice and salad. I only had one glass of wine and would have ordered more, but I was seemingly forgotten in the back corner. I also did not receive a basket of bread which I saw delivered to other tables. Oh, well, I enjoyed the meal and then my bottle of Saint Sernin Vin Rouge back in the bedroom with the AC. I had a relaxing stay here and would stay again. (I tried to after a missed bus, but they couldn't get me a room) What a lovely location in the middle of it all for Ngor Beach, with everything you need for a comfortable stay.
