The location was somewhat noisy during the day - not because of traffic or the businesses nearby, but because of construction in the lot adjacent. There's nothing to be done about this, and I have to say that the hotel did an amazing job of keeping the property dirt and dust-free. Since we were out during the day this noise wasn't a huge problem, but it might be if you wanted to take an afternoon nap!

This is a little gem of a place. Staff were very personable, wonderfully kind and attentive. Our room was large, clean and very comfortable. Beach towels and beach bag were a bonus for our walks to the beaches. The location is great, with easy access to beaches, shops, restaurants and the Night Market. Loved the Kata Walking Street - steps away! And having a great restaurant right there made some decisions about meals simpler! We also got excellent help from Ian planning our travel to our next destination.

The cleaner. Knocking on the door mid afternoon wanting to clean and almost ushering us out on checkout day , two hours before check out. Very dark room.

It was really noisy at night with loud motorcycles and those little taxis playing extra loud music until 3 am. The bathroom had a bad smell.

Everything was perfect at the Sugar & Spice Inn! The owner, staff and housekeeper were so warm, friendly and helpful, really making me feel safe and at home. The location is perfect, just minutes walk from the fabulous beach and steps from everything you could want, including the great night market! The room was very big, clean and comfortable with lots of amenities, including 2 giant bottles of drinking water replenished every day. There’s even a private back balcony where you can dry your clothes/swimsuit!

The apartment was comfortable, but many things are quite in bad shape, especially the bathroom. It could have been renovated.

This place has the kindest and most helpful staff, we lost our wallet and they went above and beyond to make accommodation for a tricky situation and really made us feel at home. The facilities are comfortable and walking distance from 3 beaches, convenient in every way in such a vibrant spot!

Street noise could be a problem and bathroom had a slight odor (drain).

The staff were great. There was a nearby fire on the power pole that knocked out our electricity. The staff proactively worked to move us to a temporary hotel up the street for the night. The hotel is very close to a street market where there is cheap and tasty food.

Due to the location directly on a busy street, there is loud music and traffic noise that you will have throughout the day and into the night. It would be nice to offer guests the option to include breakfast when booking since the restaurant is located just below the hotel.

The staff at this property are wonderful, especially the manager who works in the Sugar and Spice Restaurant downstairs. She was very helpful in finding us an alternative hotel to stay at for one night of our stay when an electrical fire down the street caused the whole block to lose power for 24 hours. The hotel itself is dated, but it's hard to complain when the price of this hotel is competitive and the location is right on the main Kata street. The beds and pillows were extremely comfortable. The bathroom has a wet shower, though we would recommend that the property provide squeegees for the guests to use to help the floor dry quicker. There is a wonderful local food market just across the street from the property. There are also several restaurants, convenience stores, and shops all within walking distance. The beach takes about 10 mins to walk to if you decide to not rent a scooter. The Wi-Fi speeds were decent enough to stream videos.

The washrooms definitely need some upgrading. The drainage in the shower isn’t the greatest and the water would build up making the whole floor in the bathroom wet. The thing that probably bothered us the most was the smell walking up into our room in the stairway. It is a very strong unpleasant smell. We would not be able to sit out on the little balcony in front because of it. It was so strong I dreaded going to and from our room. There was also a sewer type smell from our washroom at times.

The staff at sugar and spice are exceptional, they were always so friendly and helpful. Someone always spoke to us when we were going to and from our room. The bed and pillows were very comfortable and the room was very clean. The location is amazing!! Right next to the kata night market and 7 minutes walk to Kata Beach. We also liked how they provided a beach bag, towels, and beach rug to use at the near by beach.

In the morning and early evening you can hear the traffic on the main road. For us it wasn’t a big deal.

Spacious room and absolutely clean. Little balcony to dry beach towels and swimsuits. Very comfy beds. Good bathroom with hot shower. Close to the beach, shops, restaurants and the night market, which we’ve been to almost every day. You get a fridge and small seating area in and in front of your room. Two water bottles every day and beach towels plus a beach mat. Very friendly and helpful manager and tour office lady.

AMAZING location, super close to the beach. The room was massive and the staff provided beach towels and a beach bag, and let us store our bags for the day after we checked out. The food at the restaurant downstairs is also great, and they helped us call a taxi. The AC also works great.

The bathroom and linens were a bit worn but still clean and orderly.

Absolute best value! The room is spacious and well-equipped with a desk and separate small table, wardrobe, and bottled water + beach towels/mat/basket provided. Staff was friendly, and the restaurant downstairs was delicious (you could order there and have them bring the food up to you). Location is great, right near the night market and a quick 7 min walk from the beach. Wifi was very fast and worked well for video calls. There is no elevator, but the staff kindly offered to carry my large luggage upstairs.
