Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

LuxembourgWe recently sold our villa in Koh Samui so decided to book Zazen. Over the years we had frequented the restaurant as it has always had great food, but we had never stayed at the hotel. We were very impressed with everything about the hotel. We had a perfect view of the sea from our beach front room. Beautifully landscaped grounds. The food is great. And most importantly, the staff are fantastic. Professional and friendly. There are many hotel options in Samui. We could have stayed at a top international hotel & paid international prices, or opt to stay at this lovely family owned hotel for a fraction of the price while enjoying superior service. We made the correct decision. I would highly recommend Zazen and we will return.

SwitzerlandAlthough we booked via booking.com we were forced to pay via a payment link that was sent to my email. After the payment was executed, we were charged an extra amount that came out to be from a Hong Kong branch of their bank. The link was not safe enough, our card details were taken and somebody stole from us. The hotel offered us only the transport to the airport.
The area is nice and quiet, ideal for relaxing.

United KingdomI think we should have been informed that it was a “soft”opening, as all facilities were not open, such as the spa. The menu both breakfast and dinner were limited. Where was the Thai noodle soup for breakfast? The one dinner we did have was awful and our money was taken off the bill.
The pool was very nice and plenty of comfortable sun beds. The service around the pool eg getting towels and drinks also good . We had a garden room, beautifully furnished and very large, but steps within were a little dangerous.

The attention to detail in the design of the hotel and grounds was amazing. The staff were always very attentive and respectful without being over dominant. The quality of the fixtures and furniture was very high. All the rooms and grounds were cleaned and maintained to a high standard. The food for the included breakfast and the optional evening meal was prepared superbly and served with great care and respect. The hotel owner was friendly, polite and helpful yet discrete and respectful. All in all an amazing boutique hotel where you are treated as a respected individual rather than just a paying customer.

SwitzerlandWe visited during the rainy season, a particularly intense one. Can't fault the resort for the weather and appreciated how hard the staff worked to uncover the pool furniture for the brief moments of sun between rain storms! They took care of guests very well in these conditions, which are expected in that season.
Beautiful property and a warm, authentic 5-star service that’s hard to find on the island. We spent two weeks here and are very happy with the choice. Excellent restaurant and pool area and such a tranquil, quiet setting overall. No sounds of club music thumping late in the night, like you find at some other high-end places that are a bit to close to the action. It's super peaceful at Zazen. I enjoyed using the yoga room and gym, and it was great to have the option of walking on the beach to/from Fisherman’s Village. Top notch staff as well, service-focused, warm and friendly. Will look forward to staying at Zazen again!

BahrainThe weather was bad, but that was out of the control of the amazing staff at the hotel!
My recent visit to Zazen Spa in Koh Samui was nothing short of extraordinary. Despite the unpredictable weather, the experience was made memorable by the commendable service and attention to detail demonstrated by the spa's staff. The moment you step into Zazen Spa, you are met with an ambience that exudes tranquility and warmth. The staff members are the epitome of professionalism, their politeness and helpfulness shining through their every action. They go above and beyond to ensure that each guest feels special and taken care of. The beachside villa we stayed in was simply stunning. With its tasteful decor and comfortable amenities, it provided the perfect sanctuary for relaxation. The sound of the waves lapping against the shore, coupled with the serene setting, made for a truly rejuvenating retreat. Unfortunately, I fell ill during my stay. However, this did not dampen my spirits as the staff at Zazen Spa ensured I was well looked after. They regularly sent comforting cups of tea to my room and frequently checked on me, demonstrating an exceptional level of care and compassion. The weather may not have been on our side, but the hospitality and the overall experience at Zazen Spa more than made up for it. This is a place where you are not just a guest, but part of a family that takes care of you when you're in need and celebrates your wellness when you're in high spirits. In conclusion, Zazen Spa in Koh Samui offers more than just top-notch spa treatments and luxurious accommodation. It offers a home away from home, where each staff member works tirelessly to create an atmosphere of comfort and care. I can't wait to return and relive the wonderful memories I've made here.

United Arab EmiratesYou can clearly see it’s a new property and even though it’s beautiful there’s a couple of things that needs attention: - the pool needs cleaning - our washroom steps was really high and slippery which is quite dangerous
The staff was absolutely amazing. The view is nice and location is walking distance to supermarket, restaurant and the village night market. It’s also 15-20min to the airport and almost the same from the Pier, so great if you’re heading somewhere and need a quick overnight.

United KingdomIt’s on a really busy main road, and they have only have a small area of beach - but you can’t walk along the rest of the beach without tip toeing over rubble from the building site next door. So to access the rest of the beach you have to walk down the main road and then sneak through another hotel and use their beach access! We were told this was because of unusually high sea levels! But it was like that our whole stay. They are still renovating and building so there’s quite a few workmen around and often drilling/building noises. We asked at reception when we arrived about the drilling noise by the pool and were assured it would only be that day, but it continued intermittently throughout our stay. The restaurant food was nice but limited menu choices particularly if you’re veggie. They refer to it as a soft opening at the moment so there’s limited options - and no spa. Which was annoying as I had emailed them back in October following another review and was assured all work would be completed by Feb. They literally emailed us 3 days prior to arrival to explain about their ‘soft opening’ - but we’d already fully paid a week before and it’s too late to find anywhere else at such short notice. It all felt a bit disingenuous.
We stayed in a garden room which was lovely, the pool was great looking straight into the sea, and the whole area looked lovely especially in the evening when all lit up. Staff were very helpful too.
