Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

QatarAlthough I requested an early check-in ahead of time, and the hotel has approved it through Booking, they didn't allow me into the room until after 2 pm. What bothered me mostly is that the morning receptionist was very rude about it. Also the breakfast was simply ok, not very filling if you are super hungry, plus not many options.
The location of the hotel is great. You get what you pay for, so don't expect much. One of the receptionist, Rasim if I recall correctly, was very friendly and helpful.

United Arab EmiratesThe elevator. Hotel has only one elevator that's a bit small and outdated. Nothing much to complain about, it gets the job done.
Great Location, close to Sishane Station and a stone throw away from Istiklal Street. Nice breakfast selection (eggs, sausages, pancakes, bakery, cold cuts, excellent cheeses, condiments and tea/coffee) Friendly staff, especially receptionist Tekin was very friendly and helpful.

United KingdomAfter our amazing first part of our holiday we had booked to move to a different side of Istanbul in to Tulip City Hotel which is honestly the most disgusting, unsanitary, unhelpful hotel I have every seen! Apparently it is a 4 star, I wouldn’t give it a 1 star. The bathroom was disgusting and looked like the walls had never been cleaned, falling apart and full of rust and mould. The doors and table in the room had disgusting hand marks from who knows what. The room was un accessible because the card reader for door access didn’t work and reception was not helpful at all. It took us 30 minutes to get into the room. We refuse to stay there and they refused to give us a refund even though we never slept there. Avoid this hotel at all costs unless you want to ruin your holiday.
Nothing!

AustraliaOnly 1 elevator for a hotel is time consuming. No first aid and no one trained. Don't ask for ice, it's an issue. The staff were helpful, but I feel they are restricted to reach their full potential... Tv's need more channels. Forcing CNN is concerning....
Breakfast was big. But everyone given the same. Didn't matter what you liked or wanted

Bosnia and HerzegovinaThe hotel is in desperately bad condition. Too old and nothing has been invested in the last minimum of 20 years. The walls are streaked, the shower is corroded, the carpentry is rotten, the room smells of old and damp space. the rooms are dirty and full of dust to the point that they have caused us allergies. in the bathroom on the floor we found traces of dried urine. in the hotel it is impossible to fall asleep there is a disco club across the street from which music is blaring every day until midnight. The hotel's scam is by no means deserving of 4 stars but barely 2.
Breakfast the same every day. Cheeses of poor quality, so we ate outside after the fourth day

BelgiumDuring summer you want to open the windows due to the heat but then you have to deal with the noise from the street … otherwise all was perfect !!! Due to the pandemic the breakfast was served on plate but we understood that it was exceptional.
Already my second time to this hotel , my journey was even better than the first time ! You will highly appreciate the staff kindness and customer oriented mindset. The hotel location is really great close to the metro , Taksim (Istiklal avenue) and close to several restaurants, coffee spots or bars. Room windows are double glass with noise reduction, quiet important as it can be noisy during the weekend. We will come back !

Czech RepublicTulip City Hotel closed because of covid and they didn't inform guests upfront - i arrived to see a piece of paper on the door informing that i will be staying in the hotel next door - outrageous - this is not what i booked. The hotel Pera Tulip was nothing like Tulip City Hotel - totally different style. I m very disappointed. For the whole trip my phone was not able to receive their wifi - even though it worked with airport wifi. The hotel (Pera Tulip) needs refurbishing - e.g. there was broken chair on the balcony, tiles on the bathtub chipped a bit, armchair decolored by sun.. My room was very noisy since next to the engin of the lift. The hotel uses paper cups for tea/coffee in the room - instead of ceramic - not environmentally friendly plus gives a feeling of "cheap and temporary"..
Great location - walking distance to Istiklal, Galata tower, Karaköy ferries. Great view on the bay from the room on the 6th floor.
