Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Can't beat the location and the views from the rooftop of the hotel. It was close to major trailheads and easy to get around via their hotel shuttle.

Netherlands- it is an expensive hotel but the hotel itself is quite old and outdated, - breakfast and dinner had lots of options, however, the food was not great.
Location is what you pay for this hotel. It is located in the middle of Alishan forest which is very convenient. Rooms are big. Staff is nice. The park is beautiful - we managed to enjoy it even in the rain.

United StatesConsidering the prestige of this property and the amount we paid, at least they should provide body lotion.
It is conveniently located inside the park, close to all the main trails and no additional shuttle needed.

BelgiumSome parts of the hotel are a bit old (but still clean). This hotel is expensive, definitely for Taiwanese standards. But location is key here and that is what you pay for. We were only in Alishan for 1 night so it was worth it for us.
The location of this hotel is amazing, it is close to all the the hikes and tranportation is provided ( from the visitor center/bus stop to the hotel and back) & To the train station to catch the sunrise trail (big advantage!). Since we had Rain we could not enjoy the observation deck but it is nice. Rooms in the modern building are modern and nicely renovated. All staff spoke good English and were a great help figuring out all the hikes in the area!

United StatesGreat service at check-in, and they even gave us a bottle of wine since it was our anniversary. The half-board was convenient so that we didn't have to worry about where to find dinner, and the buffet had a lot of options including vegetarian selections, with very good food quality. We came to see the sunrise over the mountain on our anniversary, and they had a convenient early-morning shuttle to the train station that left in time to catch the 5:10am train to the top of the mountain (side note, in the high season be sure you bought your train tickets beforehand, because by the time you get to the station the platform will be very crowded and the train boards soon after you get there on the hotel shuttle).

SingaporeComplementary drinks and snacks aren’t really necessary for me, however it’s still covered in the room charge I believe (along with this many other services which I don’t really make use of, and you don’t have a choice to go without all these and get a cheaper price)
Shuttle bus goes to train station/bus interchange, which is convenient. Excellent location. Staff are nice and helpful. Can go to rooftop to watch the sunset. Buffet dinner and brekkie are delicious, yet slightly underwhelming considering how much it costs for 1 night. About the room itself, really not much to say, everything is fine and lives up to a 4 star.

CanadaOur room in the new building was very warm during our stay in late March. The room's climate control system had very limited effect as the temperature was mostly regulated centrally. When the issue was brought up with the front desk we were told to open the windows instead. Guests were also not able to drive up to the hotel directly and needed to take a transfer shuttle instead.
Fantastic location as it is located right within the national park. Our room in the new building was modern and very nicely furnished. The free in-room water and snacks were also appreciated. The breakfast and dinner buffets were great with very good selections.

SingaporeThe historical room we booked is bare minimum for the price we paid, perhaps if a coffee table or writing table is included will be expected. Washroom is also minimum, expected a bath tub. We stayed on the ground level facing the old reception area. Not sure if the floors above are any better but we keep on hearing creaking wood sounds as the people in the unit above us moved around whole night.

United StatesA central location in the park! Facilities have been renovated so it feels comfortable. Breakfast and dinner are included, and the buffet-style meals were quite enjoyable too. A short bus ride to the parking lot, or maybe a 10-15 minute walk to Alishan Station. Though a bit pricey, understandable for its easy access to the park for the sunrise.

United StatesLobby has very limited free sitting area. Tables with chairs have sign written telling you to spend at least 250 Taiwan dollars if you want to use the tables. This is first time I see something like this in hotel lobby.
