Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

LatviaThey are still poor at cleaning the room for long term stays and several times the front door did not work leaving me and others out in the freezing cold until a leaver opened it. The towels need to be changed. They are losing their ability to dry.
There is a large cellar/car park for use when there are air alarms.

TurkeyStaff (all expect 1) don't speak English at all, that's why I gave 4/5 for staff. At least they should know check in, check out, payment, welcoming, etc. talks. That's not a huge problem though, bring your own translator. Our beds were a little firm, it hurts your butt if you sit for 2-3 hours at the same position. Also, pillows were extremely soft, like they don't exist at all. I can't say it was too uncomfortable but could be better, it was satisfactory after all. Also, I can't say all beds are the same, maybe I was unlucky.
Location is really close to exchange office, market and metro. All the things a tourist needs. Only 1-2 stations to city center with metro. Also, it costs 300 to boryspil airport, around 100 to/from city center with bolt's taxis. Staff was helpful and kind. Reception is on the 3rd floor so you can easily bring company to the hotel without someone staring at you. Rooms feels secured with 3 step security.

HungaryA few hours before check in we got a notification that we cannot get the room we reserved, they can offer two other room for 4000 UAH instead of the original 3400 UAH. We did not feel fair this, but at the end we paid 3400.
The location, the availability of the metro. We had a great panorama from the room on the 16th floor.

ArmeniaVery inconvenient when you travel with luggage cause there are a lot of steps and one will have to carry heavy luggage by hand. Only one elevator and sometimes you have to wait for it 15 minutes. Towels in rooms are very old. We didn't use them. Mid-rooms areas are dirty. We booked one appartment but before 2 days of our trip they wrote us there were "technical issues" and we couldn't have the appartment we had booked beforehand. We had to choose 2 different rooms.
It is near metro station. There is 24 hour working supermarket near hotel and a lot of busses.

CanadaThe description of the rooms was glowing, and not quite accurate to my thinking. The”full “ kitchenette would have been much better if it had a cooktop and sink. Me only speaking English really was a done side for me, and I had a lot of trouble finding anyone who spoke my language outside of the hotel. The front desk was able to arrange taxis, and other things so that helped but be wanted, in the Ukraine English is not near as common as I thought it would be.
The room was good, and once I realized how things worked like laundry, the stay was more enjoyable. The front desk staff were very helpful, and especially Alona, helped me with so many things while I was there. They did everything in their power to make things work for me.

GermanyDirty. I doubt if the bedsheets have been changed, and if they were, then they haven't been washed properly, because they were full of yellow stains, and the pillows had a crust on them. As there is no kettle and no fridge in the room, these stains were definitely NOT from spilled food or drinks of any kind! The building is obviously a residential building a part of which are supposed to be rented by the hotel, which has its reception in 3rd floor and got no board on the street, only a handwritten sheet informing about the entrance of the hotel, without even mentioning its name.

LatviaThe room cleaning was non existent. There was hardly ever staff to be seen. This was important as there were air raids every day and they may have been needed.. The wifi in the room did not work so had to sit in the small common area to work. The bedding and towels were the same style and likely the same as three years ago - old and worn out. My bottom sheet did not even cover the tired and stained matress properly.
The hotel is in a brilliant location near the metro and 24 hour supermarket. Bars and restaurants are in walking distance

United StatesThe hotel might be illegal; we kept seeing signs on and inside the elevator telling clients of "illegal hotel" to pack their things and go. There are other reviews that say the same thing. No action was taken against us, but it still is a little jarring. The shower didn't drain right, and the hot plate and kettle didn't work for us. The room got dirty very easily, and the cleaning staff did not have keys to our room, so they could only clean and change sheets while we were in the room.
The mattresses were nice. It was okay value for a private room so near the metro and a grocery store. There was good natural lighting and ventilation coming from the windows. We also had a balcony, which was pretty rad.

IrelandThe rooms advertised look absolutely nothing like my room. I was getting there at night and there was no sign or indication that there was any hotel there so traveling as a solo female I got a fright wondering around at night looking for a hotel I booked that was obscurely tucked away with no signs. The lady at reception was very nice and so was the bathroom but there was no blanket.
The lady at reception was very polite and the bathroom was quite nice.
