Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

United StatesWhen we arrived, the inside looked very nice and almost like the pictures, however as we started looking around we found a lot of cleaning issues such as dust/pollen on the floors in the kitchen/dining area, dust on nightstands on the bottom floor, we had to vacuum the stairs, cobwebs and a hair ball hanging from the chandeliers and ceilings, spiders and mold in the bathroom showers, flying bugs on bedroom sheets. The chandelier over the dining table is a safety issue due to it being hung so low and off centered that anyone can hit their head just walking by. It looks like it broke off the hook in the ceiling however was never fixed. We had issues with poor internet that was never resolved, they said it was an outage however internet never came back throughout our stay. The beds are not comfortable, the master was spacious however it is facing a busy street and the windows need to be opened or it gets very stuffy so we were not able to get any sleep with the constant cars driving by all night long. The rooms on the main floor are very stuffy and hot while the bedrooms downstairs were more comfortable as far as temperature, during our stay in the summer. The kitchen is very limited, all the dishes needed to be washed again if you want to use anything. There are no cleaning supplies, you will need to bring your own dish washing tabs or sponge. The fridge is not cold and the door to the freezer is broken. The screen doors are all ripped. The carpet downstairs was damp. The towels are hard and musty. The master bathroom tub can’t fill up, the shower doesn’t drain. Everything needs to be updated as far as furniture. When we called management they told us about the constant pollen in the area, however didn’t understand how pollen accumulated within a couple hours if the windows and doors were closed, it was as if no one has lived in the house for weeks.
The Vacasa management company was understanding and accommodating, but other than that, our stay at Elegant Pine was anything but elegant.
