How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

WiFi could have been a little faster, and breakfast selection was a little slim.
The location was great. Very close to a Starbucks and a Trader Joe’s if you need to do some extra shopping or eating.

It is not close to downtown Santa Barbara and the beach.
I like how it had a small fridge and hair dryer and also that they had coffee and tea available to be made.

Pillows were kind of spherical, not a big problem. No milk at breakfast so bought some at TJ's.
Clean and comfortable with fridge, microwave, bathtub, free parking, a minimal breakfast and great location close to State Street, Trader Joe's and Los Agaves Restaurant.

The water in the shower tub would not go down after I would shower.

The place is pretty old at this point so do not expect anything great or fancy. I did notice an "old" smell in the room, but for the most part things were functional.
The room is clean, bed is comfortable. The breakfast has a DIY waffle option, there are bagels and other pastry available, and yogurt and cereals.

Rooms are dated; loud automatic bathroom fan.
It may not look fancy but beds are comfortable (good sheets); have stayed in different rooms, all fine. Morning coffee is pretty good, but also a Starbucks across street is nice plus. Pleasant desk employees. Good value most of time.

The room was very basic, the bathroom was super small. It was quite expensive considering the quality.
Staff were very good. The bed and sheets were comfortable. There was enough space to sit and relax other than just on the bed.

The rooms are not very much acoustically insulated. We could not hear anything from outside, but we had some noisy guests in the room above us, and it was like having them in our room. The breakfast is not very rich, waffle, some packaged pastries, some mini yogurts and coffee.
The location is pretty good with a car. It allows to reach downtown and the other cities and towns around easily, with fast access to the highway. The room was not perfect but clean enough and very comfortable. The staff has been very nice and helpful.

Noisy AC, could hear the neighbors. Beds are not queen, but smaller, so it felt tight sleeping with my 9 yr/old child. Mattress was good, but pillows were small and lumpy. Should be changed. The room is small for 2 adults/2 child, and smaller than I thought it would be, but good enough for 1 night passing through.
Pretty good location. Short car ride to the beach and downtown. Very clean, helpful staff. Simple but sufficient breakfast, with self service waffles, natural OJ, coffee, etc.

Room was a little small for 2 beds.
The room was a littl small but we managed, staff was really nice and were very quick to bring extra towels, and it was really quiet and peaceful at night.

Breakfast - it was advertised as a hot breakfast. It was a disaster. No bread, waffle maker was broken. Only thing left was a few pastries, some juice and cereal.
Booked last minute, room was clean and spacious. Pool area nice. Location good for restaurants. Mountain View from our room.

Water (out of the faucet) smelled really bad. Shower was clogged, only one roll of toilet paper (no back up), no microwave, no OJ at the continental breakfast the second day.

Needed some repair, bathroom looked like they ran out of paint, needed a protein option for breakfast. Could have been nicer for cost.
