Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):

When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

USAIt was close to a busy road. Our room was right next to the office so closer to the road and it was very noisy with road noise and noise from adjacent and upstairs rooms.
It's an old motel but it was very clean and the bed was comfortable. We were able to park right outside the room so that was nice. The desk person was efficient and friendly.

The location is right by a restaurant and coffee place. The owner was amazing and extremely helpful. She upgraded my room to a downstairs King, so I wouldn't have to carry by printer with the chairs. (Which I greatly appreciated.)

They don't really offer a breakfast. Just some overly ripe bananas and basic coffee. I like how clean the room is, and how responsive the front desk people are. This hotel is a 180 from that dump down the street The La Grande Inn, which was the worst hotel I've ever stayed at. The Royal Motor Inn is run by a very kind and attentive couple. I had an issue with my desk chair and they addressed it immediately. The room is spotless and comfortable. It's an older hotel and shows some age, but the owners really put their best foot forward to make it a great stay! I heartily recommend it, and the location for access to downtown La Grande absolutely cannot be beat!

United StatesWater didn't ever get really hot, though it was ok. The AC was broke: only one setting: on or off. One bed was broken. Like, was broken by a previous customer. So I had to have the bed right next to the AC, which was loud, and cold. Wish I could have just put the fan on low. There are some cheaper places down the street which aren't on Bookings, cheaper, though perhaps sketchier. In any case, they're smaller. This place is maybe less bad than them? There are other choices not on Bookings. Not sure I'd stay here again.
The best thing about this place is the location, if you want to be able to walk downtown to stores and restaurants. And...it wasn't as noisy as it looks when you pull up. Owner lives on site.

United StatesThere wasn't any soap! Deadbolt on door took a lot of pressure to lock. Easy footsteps, toilet flush, shower in room above and next door. No breakfast, suspect maybe coffee in the office but we left very early so don't know.
Room appeared clean. There was a micro and fridge, 2 towels, 2 hand towels, 2 wash clothes, 4 cups. King size bed was comfortable. Close to downtown but street noise decreased by 10pm.
