There was no one around. The hotel seemed abandoned and run down. Anyone could walk into the unsecured buildings. There was no deadbolt in our room for extra protection. The whole place seemed like it had been forgotten. Which is very sad because the location is perfect and the staff were doing their best.

The location was exceptional. The very few staff members were delightful. The room was large and clean.

It was run down and felt abandoned. We were put in the D building, I guess because we had our dog, it was scary and creepy. A few years ago, it was such a nice place to stay.

The view was spectacular. The beds were comfortable.

The Sholo has been in Newport for decades... it needs to be updated. Starting with the T.V., first update with a flat screen and possibly the sunshade that might have been ripped out a few visits earlier then our visit. Simple solution for a simple stay. They view is spectacular out the ocean window and we really enjoyt this. Glad to have a coffe pot that Vegas hotels don't have....

I am so sad that the restaurant has been closed since Covid. It was always a highlight of our stay.

The location. Getting super run down. The building and location need some TLC.

The view but the window seal has failed so it’s cloudy in between the two glass panes.

Building has not been updated or well maintained. Pool area was not very clean and no bathroom was available. The window in the room was not clear, the seal between the panes had failed. The door to the outside was always unlocked. The card key lock was not functioning.

Our room had an old run down bed that was very uncomfortable. Our view overlooked a roof that was apparently an old restaurant. The place needs updating, painting around the hallways, new carpeting, etc. kind of run down.

Bathtub does not drain can't take a shower without sing in 2 inches of water no AC which is fine because it's on the ocean. But it was pretty hot aND no breakfast like I paid for.

The location was beautiful, convenient (if strenuous) beach access by 90 stairs. The property and furniture were older and run down though the bed was clean and comfortable. Staff were friendly. Would love to go back to Newport but for the price we paid probably won’t stay here again.

Room was too hot from bad thermostat, no channel guide for the tv, thin floor/ceiling and people above stomped around all night.

Room was too warm. No air conditioning. The property is OLD. Needs updating. Bathroom tiles cracked, chipped. Chairs very uncomfortable. Front desk needs to acknowledge all who walk in, even if helping another customer. At least say, welcome to shilo, I'll be with you shortly.

The hotel is cozy but very much needs a renovation. There is a very old smell in the lobby and rooms. Very outdated and old. However, still great service and room was clean enough.

No over night stay room clean. No restaurant or cafe open. Mold on the bathroom. Not enough towels in the room. We had 3 people and only 2 towels.
