Run down, broken toilet seat, breakfast was absolute minimum (boxes of cereal and bread for toast) in a conference room, so not the most appealing.  They were having computer problems, so when we checked in it took a long time at the front desk. Staff was focused more on dealing with the cleaning staff and other things than with checking us in. Then, when we checked out, the desk staff didn’t know how to use the computer and we learned that he has just been hired the evening before trained for an hour and started at midnight.

No breakfast. No Wi-Fi. Stained sheets smelled clean but stained like I said. The guy at the front desk was probably the only decent part of the hotel. The townies who live around here aren’t the upstanding people but they kept to themselves for the most part. The view of the ocean was nice. It’s a budget hotel hahaha not sure what all I expected but definitely for them to have what they offered online and what was said I would get in the email. Probably won’t stay here again unless it’s the only hotel I can get in the town…

The whole place has kind of a run down vibe but worse, it has a weird smell, I think from the cleaning products they use. You get used to it but it's kind of off-putting. Also smelled weed a lot in the hallways and emanating from rooms despite many signs posted saying not to smoke on the premises.

Location is great, right next to the bus stop on the Silver, Green and Free Shuttle lines. Walkable to downtown area but easier to take the3 free shuttle bus which goes every 20 minutes. Also right next door to the Safeway so easy to get groceries. Good for longer stays.

Breakfast not good. Don't count on eating the breakfast there. Cheaper hotel and it has a cheaper feel to it.

Good location next to supermarket. Also located inbetween airport/ferry terminal and downtown area. Easy walking distance to both areas. Free voucher for taxi to get to airport. Cheap compared to other places.

On the morning of my stay the hotel cancelled all 3rd party bookings as they were overbooked, as I was travelling I did not receive this notification and on arrival they found me a room as I was there in person, whilst that was good their initial cancellation is very poor

Staff tried their best but were way overstretched. There were drips coming through the bathroom ceiling when we were using it. Lack of sufficient hot water. No breakfast facilities to speak of.

The hotel was overbooked and we almost didn't have a room. We booked a non smoker room and the only one available was a smoker one so we had to take it since we have no other choice.

The staff was super nice and the room was big and spacious with coffee maker, fridge and a microwave.

everyone is lacking staff so I try to be kind and patient. the GM was kind and helpful in a very stressful for her hotel situation. front desk did not bother to look up greet me and say ill be with you shortly I was left to stand there for a good several minutes in silence with her in front of me. Room needed attention but again everyone is having staffing issues.

Majority of staff, including management is quite inadequate and probably on some substances. Overal cleanliness of the room floor and bedsheets could be better.

Location is near the central part with access to public transportation. Rooms are standard with decently maintained fixtures. Bathroom is clean. Both smoking and non-smoking rooms offered. Nice sea view.

I have come here many many times so I have seen the best and the worst of this motel. I also know they are making an effort to improve but they are not there yet. We arrived late and the evening person was dry and he clearly show no desire to communicate as he's struggling to take our payment. Knowing the layout of this hotel I know the noisy rooms so I asked him after he handed us the key, without so much as a "good night", if the room was noisy and his answer was "not typically" . Last room on the first floor next to the back exit?? Of course it was noisy. The bathtub was clogged so we waddle in our own bath water. Not a great feeling when you're trying to get clean. The hallways spew this acrid BO smell that cannot be masked with cheap air fresheners.. Now apart from the clogged bathtub, the room was clean and the bed and beddings were comfortable and clean. We had a good night sleep, which is all one needed when you go to the motel 8.

The proximity to other businesses in town. We live remote off the road of Ketchikan, so when we have to spend a night in town to attend other business the motel 8 is conveniently located for it.

Hole in bathroom ceiling, had to change rooms, no shuttle service as advertised, no breakfast as advertised, etc. This is not a great hotel.
