Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaOne the A/C’s in our large room didn’t work (no remote??) Breakfast was very disappointing. And the bed was really hard (personal preference only)
Convenient location close to all District 1 attractions. Great size room with a comfy lounge. Bathroom was good size and shower didn’t make whole floor wet. Staff were friendly but didn’t speak great English. Cafe attached to the hotel made pretty good cappuccinos!!

ChinaBreakfast was average, they stopped refilling some dishes before breakfast time was over. Rooms are fairly rustic in nature and therefore not modern - but fine if you don't mind that sort of thing. WiFi connection was not reliable. The hotel is next to a noisy school, which is only a problem if you like to sleep in. The sheer value of the place and its location makes it all worth it imo.
Great value for money, upgraded to a large room for free. Good service, very spacious and great location.

United StatesBreakfast did not really start at 6:30 but that was not that big a deal. They were there setting up so you could still eat.
I was immediately given an upgraded room which probably was close to 400 square feet! More than I needed this place could sleep four people easily. The breakfast was good. They were a little slow at having it ready at the advertised time they said was 6:30. But it did not take long for them to be on top of it and you could order your eggs in the meantime while they were still setting up the breakfast. I would give the breakfast a solid 7 out of 10. The staff was super nice.

United KingdomThe Homestead is a great location to explore Ho Chi Min city, especially with the cheap taxi or GRAB bike app available to whistle up a ride at short notice. Friendly and helpful reception staff were very quick to try to sort out problems. We were upgraded to a larger room which was nice, but experienced a few minor problems initially that staff were quick to help with. However, there was a problem with the water pressure in the building and we were without hot water for a day and a half. Breakfast was a bit chaotic for the first couple of days with some communication difficulties and staffing problems, but in fairness, the management got a grip and this improved markedly and did not spoil our stay. Tea, coffee and a fridge/freezer with daily complimentary bottled water made it a pleasant few days in the city. A warning to anyone visiting HCM city for the first time is to expect swarms of small motor scooters riding in all directions, including on the pavements at rush hour, which will involve a keen awareness when negotiating the traffic, but Vietnam is an amazing country and well worth spending some time exploring...

AustraliaThere was an awful smell coming from the bathroom (drain?🤔) which was really unpleasant. It settled after about 4 days, but was still there occasionally. We stayed leading up to Tet so that may have impacted on available services to properly fix the problem.
The hotel was in a good location and the staff were lovely. The room we had was huge! The breakfast provided a very good variety of options and was a great start to the day.

United KingdomSofas were not very clean and no cushions which were needed. No hangars but these were supplied when asked for though. Breakfasts for Europeans were very mediocre and experience not great.
Very large studio room with screen separating bedroom. A/C units in both areas which was essential. Bed comfortable and reception staff helpful.

Vietnam1. There were problems with locking apartment entrance doors and vestibule door. The receptionist gave us electronic keys, that didn't open the apartment doors. After my complaint, the keys were re-programmed. But we found out that there were no keys to the vestibule door. After my request, the receptionist brought a standard key but I couldn't lock the door with it. 2. Breakfast could be better. There was no buffet, meals shall be ordered from the menu and the choice was poor.
I expected a single apartment with 2 bedrooms, but in reality, that was 2 separate apartments with separate entrance doors, each suitable for a family. Our daughter occupied the larger apartment and was very happy to stay there alone :-)

United Arab EmiratesRoom 101 had a leaky shower tub and the electronic door locks had a persistent problem throughout our 3 night stay. The service at the restaurant needs some massive improvement as on all 3 days we had to wait for a long time for the buffet items to be replenished.
We stayed in a 2 bed apartment which were very spacious.

CanadaThe room I had reserved was not available when I arrived. Staff promoted an upgrade which I did not like. I wasted time the next day waiting to get the type of room I had reserved. Breakfast was adequate but there was only a very small buffet section and only a very small amount of fruit was ever available. Set breakfasts could be ordered. Coffee was lukewarm at best. I stayed at 5 other less expensive hotels in Vietnam and had much better breakfast experiences. The free bottled water provided in the room is in typical disposable plastic bottles with the hotel's name on it. Staff said the bottles get recycled which I am doubtful can be done in a sanitary manner for a disposable bottle. The lids on the bottles did not have the typical commercial tight seal that has to have some force to be broken to open the bottle.
The location was quiet and was good for walking to several tourist sites and the market. The room was spacious.
