Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

South AfricaDinner and breakfast were included in our package. Sadly, the food was below par. For dinner, I was served cold, grainy soup for my starter that seemed pre-cooked, which is totally understandable, but it was neither heated thoroughly nor turned into a soup consistency, same for the sauce for the main, and the chocolate moose was the worst - supermarkets have vastly better ones readily available on their shelves! For my breakfast, the poached eggs tasted exclusively of vinegar. I understand that vinegar is added to the water to poach eggs and slight acidity may be acceptable, but not so much as to mask any taste of egg and set one up for acid reflux for the entire day. Sadly, my experience did not bode well for the kitchen, except for the lunch that was not included in the package and served piping hot (so not pre-cooked) on a cold day and thoroughly enjoyable!
An exceptional geological location that is a must to visit and experience; we were lucky enough to stay in one of their unique 'cave' rooms, an experience I would endorse. The staff is attentive, friendly, and professional. They welcomed us warmly, and even the housekeeping visited the room at night to ensure all was OK! The night sky is mesmerizing, and the daytime views are delightful to wake up to. A quiet and serene location that is perfect for a getaway!

United StatesThe rooms are a bit claustrophobic, with not much even head space. I understand the proposal, but since those rooms were not really scouted on the rock, there is not much reason for them to be so low! The last 15km to get there is also very sandy, what makes a motorcycle arrival a bit painful, since you are coming tired from a long day ride. Didn’t see much reason for the price they charge. Too expensive that doesn’t justify with what you get!
The view is great! I think is the best about the place. The staff amazing as usual in South Africa, they never disappoint. The restaurant is also very good, great diner, great breakfast!

South Africa5 ***** all the way. What a weekend away in the Cederberg! From the moment we arrived at the main gate of the reserve, checking in at reception, been escorted to our accommodation, massages, 'mouth watering' supper and breakfast, 4x4 self drive, <star gazing which was postponed due to the full moon> and more - every facet of the journey was 5 stars which is seldom experienced in our beloved country. Well done Team Kagga Kamma <it is understandable why the establishment was awarded the best weekend stay in the Western Cape>.

IrelandThe property is VERY remote and it took us 2 hours to drive on a dirt road to get to the accommodation - I think this should be more clear from the property, as you will need a 4X4 or larger car to get there (could potentially damage rental cars tires etc)
This property is one of a kind. It was an amazing experience and the staff was great! Definitely worth the trip!

Isle of ManThe only thing I would change is chairs in the boma as they feel a little tired and some were a little worn. It's a shame you can see cars in the carpark from some of the caves, and air conditioning units at the back of other caves from others, but there's not much you can do about that! Everything else is beyond perfect - we love this place so much.
This is an absolutely incredible, unique experience. The drive to Kagga Kamma takes a while and the road, while completely passable even in a small car, does take a lot of time!! The scenery on the way there though is stunning and there are so many photo opportunities. The view from the caves/huts is equally amazing. The food is great, the customer service is exemplary, the rooms are clean and have everything you need. Eating dinner around the fire was really atmospheric, and the stargazing tour was brilliant.

South AfricaThe staff did not listen to our requests and we had two issues which they forgot to do. The gas geyser did not work so we had cold showers.
We stayed at the open air suite which is absolutely out of this world. The facilities are exceptional and the layout of the site with a natural rockpool is a win. Peace and tranquility personified.
