Nostalgic experience

Our room was very small where as our friend who was single had a much bigger room. The WiFi was non existent in the bedrooms. I thought for the price per night they should have included breakfast. They didn’t tell us about the facilities on the farm, I.e swimming pool at the camping site. If we didn’t walk around we would not have known.

The gardens were well kept. The evening dinner was nice but I think overpriced. Liked having coffee delivered in the morning but would have been nice with a rusk at least.

The Paley family graves were sadly neglected.

The food wasn't very good, the rooms don't have wifi and had no signal, the bathrooms weren't very clean (we had pieces of cardboard on the floor).

It was very calm and quiet at the establishment, definitely a place to go to when you want to relax and get away from the city.

There’s so much room to walk around and spot animals. The staff was friendly. Overall peaceful and quiet place.

We were not sure regarding the dinner option..the waiter said we should choose on the dinner menu either beef roast or fishcakes and then later said we can take everything but was not sure as to what is standard and price difference etc..but the staff was very friendly.

The openings with lots of space for a picnic or just to sit under trees..also the game drive option was exillirating.saw lots of beautiful kransvoels. The morning coffee was a great idea and we really loved that.thanks

Loadshedding 😋 I would have liked a kettle in the room, BUT they do bring coffee to your room in the morning at a time you specify, which is so nice. Just because I have small children and would have liked to wash their bottels myself.

A Unique experience. The hosts were helpful and friendly. A historic farm stay with beautiful gardens on a farm. The farm house is like walking back in time. Was clean. We enjoyed the pool.

Most things seemed to have been shared for the entire guest house, e.g. TV and coffee appliances. The was also no iron for our clothes. Considering the poor cell phone network in the area because of the remote area, the WiFi experience wasn't so good even with the electricity on. Extra access points for the WiFi are really worth considering. The food wasn't also great for what we paid for per person.

Though the place is 40km outside Victoria West, it is in a nice quiet area and my family enjoyed the pool.

I had a drink before dinner. A double tot of whisky followed by a single with water came to R95 which equates to about R900 a bottle. This is excessive in the extreme. Hence my toned down appreciation.

Even though it is an amazing old house the bathroom might need some upgrading.

Location of this historical guest farm is amazing with lots of activities to keep you busy. Load shedding was well handled by the staff. An amazing three course dinner was provided by candle light.

The building is in need of repair and maintenance outside.

The old world charm has been maintained. The full menu dinner was really good - a gong calls you to dinner! The gardens around the guesthouse and the farm environment creates such a relaxed atmosphere.

I am used to shower everyday. It is difficult to wash your hair if you don't even have a handspray in the bath. Understand they want to keep it the old way little but an upgrade of the bathrooms could really be a bonus.

The breakfast was served early , so you were able to plan the day. You had different choices for breakfast and we enjoyed the variety. The staff was friendly and helpful while serving. Would have liked the coffee station a little closer to dining hall maybe as they only served tea in the hall.

Wonderful to stay on the farm again! We love swimming in the pool and going for long walks. The facilities are great for that, and for sitting on the lawns for lazy afternoon drinks. The rooms are basic but clean and comfortable.

No showers. At my age (elderly) difficult to get into a bath.

Liked the "old worldliness" of the place. It was a reasonable breakfast, nothing to rave about. Liked the fresh bread

The restaurant was pure 1970’s. Food was home cooking and stuffy uncomfortable restaurant with no soul. Potential to do so much

We were given the wrong room to begin with but moved when we showed the confirmation of our double, garden facing room. The food was OK, but home style cooking at restaurant prices.

It is a wonderful old homestead & guesthouse just outside Victoria West. It was a bit of a 1960’s time warp Re the furnishings & styling, but clean and comfortable.
