    Everything was perfect!

Lovely welcoming atmosphere and a fun environment. The owners are excellent hosts and real people’s persons. The guesthouse and rooms are cosy, spacious with beautiful gardens and nice added touches like rusks with your coffee and extra hand wash , shower gel, body cream and shampoo. Each room has a private patio where you can listen to the birds make music! The Red Tin Roof is seeped in history and it makes for interesting decor. We loved the guesthouse is within a few steps of the main house and restaurant / bar area but far away enough for privacy. The uniqueness and real gems of this place are the hosts, Same and Jacque. Thank you for a awesome stay.

I had the pleasure of staying at this charming and beautiful guest house with my family, including my 2-year-old daughter, and I must say it was a delightful experience for all of us. From the moment we arrived, we felt a warm and welcoming atmosphere that made us instantly feel at home. What was especially heartwarming was how our little one was welcomed with open arms, which truly made our stay memorable. The cleanliness of the place was impeccable, and it was evident that the owners take great pride in maintaining their property to the highest standards. The attention to detail in every corner of the guest house was impressive, and it gave us peace of mind knowing that our daughter had a clean and safe environment to explore. I must give a special mention to Sam, who not only took great care of us but also made our daughter feel special. Sam's hospitality and friendliness were exceptional, and it's clear that they genuinely care about their guests' comfort and well-being, especially when it comes to families. One of the highlights of our stay was the breakfast. It was not just good; it was absolutely delicious. The flavors and presentation were top-notch, and it was a perfect way to start each day of our stay. We left with a sense of nostalgia and a strong desire to return in the future. I highly recommend this guest house to anyone looking for a cozy and family-friendly accommodation option. We can't wait to visit again and experience the warm hospitality and beautiful surroundings once more.

Unfortunately it seemed renovations were happening without being noted when booking. It would have been nice to know that certain things such as restaurant and bar were not exactly open as well as cleaning of property would be within the mix of our stay. There was roof cleaning happening as we came home one day and therefore could not sit out on the lovely veranda and relax. I’m sure once renovations are complete it will be lovely as all staff is very accommodating. I’m just a little disappointed in the stay and felt it was a bit pricey with all the inconveniences.

Everyone was very accommodating, breakfast was delicious and every night a fire was lit.

Sam Rogers and her friendly staff made us feel welcome, organised fire wood to ward off the winter chill and extra lights during load shedding. The B&B is spacious, comfortable and exquisitely decorated. We enjoyed reading on the verandah which overlooks a beautiful garden. The breakfast was scrumptious. We loved every minuite of our stay!

Hot water was turned off on arrival and after switching it on someone turned it off again, so did not have hot water at night or in the morning. No TV in the rooms and the TV in the bar area was not working. Environment is noisy with taps screeching when other occupants use them throughout the night. It was not a peaceful stay.

There was no-one to let us in, even though I phoned 2 days before to confirm our booking and arrival. I had to phone the number on the bill board outside to get their attention. I spoke to the owners on the phone, never saw them at all during our stay. I believe they stay on the premises. They had to search for the keys and could not give us the key to one of the rooms due to some technicality. Riebeeck Kasteel is hot, yet there was no back up when the electricity went out. The pool - the reason for booking with them - was a brown mud slush. When we said that we wanted to swim, the lady laughed and said, "You are joking, right?" There was a very dirty pond behind the house where mosquitos took off in their hoards to feast on the unsuspecting travellers. When I asked about something to spray, the lady looked around and said, "Here is a Tabard stick a client left behind. You can use this." The house has severe water damage in the lounge area, smells musty and has mold and water damage in the bathrooms. When we come back from our supper in town, we found a huge dog bone in the lounge. That can only mean that the workers and the big dog that barked like crazy when we arrived, has been in the accomodation. The room has a bath, but no plug to take a bath. The aircon has seen better days. Everything was pretty tattered and unkept, so we declined the breakfast. We did not feel we could trust it. On site parking was occupied by the work vehicle of the staff. I really cannot recommend this accomodation.

The house was in an established garden that looked like a fairy garden. Once the constant trucks from the industrial area stopped, it was quiet. My friend is allergic to caffeine. She asked if they had decaf coffee and they somehow managed to buy it specially for her, even though the shops had closed already.

Illegal smoking in the rooms by other guests adjacent to us seeped under our bathroom doors, meaning that we decided to leave a day early as my children are asthmatic and it was not a great environment for them. The other guests, all rooms, also smoked outside on the covered patio. This mean that the smoke from weed and cigarettes came into the central lounge area so we had no escape from a barrage of passive smoking. In addition the external tables were covered with bird poo and cigarette stompies from other pool guests. In addition the people in the next door room had a party of their own with guests who were not staying there who dominated the pool and made it awkward. I had to ask for soap in the bathroom and the dispensers were broken.

The staff were very friendly as was Sam the owner, and a pool on the property. She gave good suggestions. We had a meal there which was very nice.

Found the bed too small for me and soft. Only disappointment - someone removed my bottle of wine from the fridge. Not a big issue, disappointment was that I had bought the Black Elephant wine especially to try it for the first time and never got to.

Very relaxing & peaceful venue, like the art/decor and family feel. Very friendly, responsive and efficient staff. Good value for money. Like the communal lounge, where one can interact with other guests. Also stoked that I managed to secure a signed copy of Jacque Pauw's new book.
