This experience introduces you to Tulum, an ancient Mayan city on the coast of Quintana Roo and the beaches of the Mexican Caribbean. Tulum — often called “the walled city” — sits 50 km south of Playa del Carmen and was used historically as an important trading port. Along the way you will travel the Mayan Riviera and see aspects of the lifestyle of today’s Mayan descendants.
On arrival at the archaeological site you’ll join a certified guide for a tour of the ruins built on a high point with an impressive view of the Caribbean Sea. The guide will explain Mayan culture and give a brief history of the site. After the guided portion, you’ll have free time to take photographs or simply enjoy the surroundings before returning to Playa del Carmen.
