Sillamae is well-known for it's Stalin-era architecture (especially the so-called "old-town"). The city is located close to the sea, which is a heaven during warm periods (like summer), where you could sunbathe, having walked 5-10 minutes from the place where you stay. The town is being developed (new seaside promenade, new roads in and out of the town) and is now a good place to visit either for a day or longer to enjoy the sea and the beach. It has quite remarkable old town that has been a scene for a few filming sets. Absolutely bargain place to stay while being also kind of in the center of Ida-Virumaa - perfect place to stay to explore Ida-Virumaa by car. Seaside walk could've been in my bucket list, if I'd known it existed before I actually visited it. There's bunch of places everywhere to eat.
