I will tell anyone coming to Sri Lanka - stay with Ravi at Margosa Mountain Villa. Best stay on our trip and top 5 lifetime. Stunning setting. Perfect room. Delicious food -organic rice, fruit, fish etc. right from the property, expertly cooked by Ravi’s wife Sewwandi. Pool is sublime. Birds galore (and easy to find and ID with Ravi’s help). Booked for two days. Stayed for 4. Great spot for excursions Dambulla, Sigiriya, and beyond, but we were happy just to relax and meditate on our good fortune to be there. Ravi spent 23 years as tour guide and it shows both in his care and expertise. I know this review sounds like a plug from one of his friends but I promise that 5 days ago we’d never met. But, yes, we have definitely made a new friend. Stay as long as you can.

We had the most amazing time at Leel’s Safari cottage! The room was perfect—super clean, beautifully designed, with air conditioning and a hot water. You can really tell how much effort they put into making everything just right. It felt so cozy and welcoming. The garden outside was lovely—well-kept, peaceful, and such a nice place to relax. And the food… wow! The meals cooked by Leel’s mom and his wife were the best we’ve had in Sri Lanka. Everything was so fresh and delicious. Thank you both for making every meal so special! We also did the sunrise safari with Leel, and it was incredible🌅 He’s so professional and knows the park so good. He explained everything so calmly and made sure we didn’t miss anything. It was truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Thank you so much, Leel, for an unforgettable stay. We’ll always remember it, and we’re so happy we got to meet you. 🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻 If you’re thinking of coming here—don’t think twice. Highly recommended!❤️

Awesome place to stay for family. We had a good time. Good food and great service. Safari can be arranged from the hotel for a reasonable amount.

Loved the warm welcome, hospitality was exceptional, and the food was amazing!

It was exceptional, my daughter and I were alone in the hotel and on the property, which is a one-time experience. We enjoyed the team, the owner, the spice garden tour with explanations, the superb pool and grounds, the frogs at night and birds and monitors by day, the unavoidable ants, and the fresh fruit & veggies. It is the perfect stay upon arrival or before departure, since it is not far from the international airport in Colombo. It is cozy, with much comfort, good service, and the 9 rooms spread into 6 pavilions make it seem very intimate. There is an ayurvedic treatment spa, and it is perfect to recharge, work remotely (which I did while overseeing my 7 y.o. in the pool), and laze around. Book 2 nights minimum for improved appreciation before heading to your Sri Lankan discovery tour & adventures!

I would like to thank our host Franzi, Kiki and the rest of the team for treating us with the upmost respect and kindness. The wonderful staff was very attentive and made everyone feel at home at all times. Everything has been taken care of from the day we arrived to when we left. Breakfast was fantastic with a lot of varieties. Everything was freshly made with passion and love. Franzi would occasionally give us a ride with the tuktuk when going out, or in need of a quick transport. Her driving skills are simply unmatched and deserves mentioning. The days felt nice and long as the property offers a safe space to retreat from the busy, chaotic roads further south, making you enjoy every second at the property more. Stunning views from all corners into the vast ocean with unforgettable sunsets leave you speechless. Our trip through SriLanka was rapidly transformed from an adventurous busy holiday to a perfect relaxing safe space with direct access to the beach. Leaving this place makes me extremely sad but I am hoping to return soon again to spend some more quality time with the wonderful people I’ve met here, and can call friends. Everything about this boutique hotel & retreat is exceptional! It is a luxurious private paradise where you can relax & rejuvenate. The location is excellent and the rooms are spacious and beautifully designed. The thought and care shown by Janaka (the hotel manager) and his wife go above and beyond & the cuisine is fabulous. Staying here will be a highlight of your time in Sri Lanka. We look forward to our next visit!

one of the best places I visited so far, the view is impressive!

This was our favorite accommodation in all of Sri Lanka! Sadly, we only stayed one night, our last night in Sri Lanka. We wished we had stayed longer! Our room was very spacious and comfortable. We arrived early in the day and enjoyed using the pool and the poolside loungers while we waited for our room to be ready. Peter and Glenda are such wonderful hosts. So kind and welcoming. And this was, by far, the best included breakfast we had at any of our accommodations. Highly recommend Plantation House.
