For archaeological interest, beaches, site seeing good. Hanga Roa not a wealthy area, can appear a bit rough but some hotels create beautiful extensive gardens. Some good places to eat. Pleasant walks slong the coast. Ppl nice! Our first 'hotel' was appalling but moved to another more acceptable along the street.
The most mazing place. It was lush and green and everyone seemed happy to be there. It was spotlessly clean and felt really safe. All the sites were better than expected .Probably my favourite was the volcano.
If you visit strictly for the Moai, a 3 day stays is minimal. (2 days for the typical two tours that highlight the island sites, 1 or more day to take in the village life) You need a local guide for most sites within the national park, thus the day were you could take a week and go to a few sites each day and really spend time there are gone. I recommend reserving the guides and/or tour prior to your arrival. You can pay the (hefty) national park entrance fee in the village of Hanga Roa at the NP office. Make sure to pay it before beginning your tours they check at all sites.
Great island, relaxing and also incredibly interesting. I spent 5 full days and it worked well. Try to include a Saturday, the town is pretty sleepy during the week. Surf, snorkle, scuba, boating, kayak, hike, cycle, history, geology. Great food and drink. It’s not really a beachy place, better known for activities, landscapes and indigenous culture. I bit of Spanish would help a lot but I got by with only English. I was usually the only solo traveller, mostly couples and groups on the island. Not cheap but well worth it.
Hanga Roa was fascinating and interesting. It has 3 great large supermarkets, with just about anything you need. Many restaurants, for every taste, bakeries, gift stores, craft stores, Farmer's Market every morning,( a MUST!). The graveyard is also a very special place to see. There are several Ahu in Hanga Roa, as well as Ahu Tahai-a spectacular Ahu where people congregate at Sunrise and sunset every day.
A unique and beautiful property with the most helpful and friendly staff. The property itself was everything I hoped for. Being on such a remote island, I wanted to feel close to nature and the glamping accommodations were better than I hoped for. I had a small time window to make this trip and the staff went above and beyond to make sure that this trip exceeded my hopes and expectations and that I could experience as much as possible on this bucket list trip. I don't really have any complaints. The site and staff were amazing and made this trip a once in a lifetime experience.
