Staff, helpful and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast was excellent, Our room was large, with a lovely view, had all the facilities you would expect. Loved the decor and ambiance of the hotel . The building has an interesting history. Location was great for walking into town centre. Would certainly stay here again.

Farnley Tower is situated in an elevated position, providing views over Durham Castle, Cathedral and surrounding countryside. The guest house is a prominent Victorian mansion, renowned for its architecture and gardens, with an on-site restaurant and bar, free Wi-Fi and car parking. All 17 bedrooms are individually designed and spacious. The restaurant and bar, Holi & Bhang, is open 7 days a week and specialises in Indian cuisine. Guest can relax in the patio area overlooking the garden. Farnley Tower Guesthouse is less than a 10 minutes’ walk from historic sites and river walks. There are many cafe, boutiques, galleries and museums nearby.

Farnley Tower Guest House is a Victorian stone built mansion house circa 1870. Steeped with history, it is now a charming 4 Star Guesthouse with Restaurant, Bar and patio onsite. Situated in an elevated position provides stunning views of Historic Durham Castle and Cathedral and surrounding countryside. Positioned in a quiet leafy residential conservation area on the top of The Avenue and is less than a 10 minute walk into the City Centre, Train station and Historic sites. All 17 rooms are individually designed, some having views of the City. A recent refurbishment of the attic has created 3 Double Deluxe en-suite rooms with spectacular views in the Cathedral and Castle View rooms Oak beams, sandstone walls and cast iron staircase have been carefully sympathetically restored in character of the building. Free car parking onsite, subject to availability and WiFi onsite. Ideal for any guest whether you are travelling for business or pleasure, a great hub for sightseeing the historic city of Durham. Providing all the modern facilities of a modern city hotel. For something special be our Guest.
Hi I'm Annette I am the Manager here at Farnley Tower Guesthouse and manage a small friendly team consisting of 6 staff members. I've worked here since May 21 and enjoying my new role here, meeting and greeting guests from all over the world. The Guesthouse has expanded recently, offering 17 individual rooms, along with our own bar and restaurant specialising in authentic Indian cuisine. We are here to help and make your stay as welcoming, comfortable, relaxing and enjoyable as possible. If there are any special requests, such as dietary requirements, celebrating a special occasion or anything else, let us know with a little notice by email or phone and will get this arranged for you. Ideal for a cycling, golfing and walking trail holidays. If you are staying for a few days, we have other nearby attractions that are accessible by public transport such as Seaham, Beamish Open Air Museum, Hadrian's Wall and Newcastle Upon Tyne. We attract a diverse number of guests from all over the world, especially popular with parents of students and visiting professors, over graduation or coming for an open day to explore the University, ranked in the top in the UK There are many places to eat and dine, including our brand new onsite restaurant and bar Holi and Bhang
