Take a leap back in time and stay in our lodge immersed in nature located on the walking trails of the Koppany Valley. A hark back to by-gone times but with todays modern convenience. Explore the forests and surrounding countryside, wildlife and fauna, visit the thermal spas. Sit quietly and you have an almost 100 % chance to observe wild animals such as red deer, roe deer and fox. Our valley has been left deliberately underdeveloped to allow the development of a biodiverse area resulting an abundancy of insects, birds, wildlife, flora and fauna. Some other interesting, rare animals that are readily seen are bee-eater, golden oriole, white-tailed eagle, raven, yellow-bellied toad and many more. At night cosy up round the firepit and toast marshmallows, spark the romance with a spot of stargazing. An idyllic escape from it all, you wake to birdsong and finish the day with beautiful sunsets. We offer two guestrooms in our lodge with self-catering facilties, our book the whole lodge for exclusive use of the communal areas. On site we offer a self-serve Cafe & Micro Market selling selection teas, coffee and locally-made brews, cakes in Wi-fi-Zone, Bookable Go Wild!! Kitchen events on weekends, Relaxation areas, firepits, communal bbq & piza oven. We have a private fishing lake within a 20 minute stroll or simply borrow our bikes and cycle round the local villages. Our breakfast option is a continental breakfast tray of your choosing which is delivered at 8am to your room to be enjoyed inside or out. The basket may include: Fresh baked roll, a light selection of meat, cheese, vegetable & fruit, butter, homemade jam, a yoghurt pot & fruit juice - pastry & eggs on request (small extra charge). The Lodge is a converted stable, known as a loam or adobe house due to the build type, the livestock lived downstairs and family upstairs. This building method means the insulation properties are amazing and the result is even at the height of summer the lodge remains consistently cool. It should be noted this traditional build means there are no windows in the Rose bedroom and lounge. This adds to the overall quirkiness, we have added extra lighting to keep the rooms feeling light and cosy. The kitchen, lounge and dining room are communal areas unless you book both rooms for sole use but the bathrooms are private, the Rose room is en-suite. The lodge is available for exclusive use by booking both rooms, you can then sleep up to six utilising the sofa bed. Koppany Pines Guesthouse & Campsite was purchased in 2020, we saw it as way to live a more natural life in the countryside. We’ve been described as quirky, rustic, bohemian but always friendly! We grasped at this lifestyle, fallen in love with old skills and found well-being in nature through pursuing a simpler life. Koppanyszanto …is a taste of ‘REAL HUNGARY’ with a chance to see wine press houses amongst the vineyards, the local apiary, houses hung with paprika and the passing horse and carts, Koppanyszanto almost feels like it’s part of a bygone age. Take a walk to the local shop or visit the kocsma (pub)/pizzeria and share a drink with the locals who have accepted us with such hospitality. There’s a playground, football field and stream for wearing out the kids or having a picnic. You can even buy a picnic from us! The church stand proud on the top of the hill overlooking the village and is definitely worth a visit. The bus will take you to nearby Tamasi to wander round the Deer Park, maybe take one of the walks, explore the town or visit the Thermal Spa. We are located within driving distance of 2 spas each offering their own individual style so you are sure to find one that suits you. If you would like to fish and have your own equipment, let us know and we will organise a few hours at a private lake. The lake also offers a great location to meditate, sit spot and just relax and reflect. There are several villages festivals over the year where villagers come together and prepare food, eat, parade, dance, wear traditional outfits and drink wine. It is often possible to buy the wine direct from the farmers or the traditional hungarian palinka. Balaton lake is a great day out. There are water activities at Zamardi and Fonyod on Balaton Lake and the ferry to the beautiful Tihany is within 35 minutes. In the other direction you have the historical town of Kaposvar and Lake Deseeda where you can again hire water activity equipment. Whether you explore or just relax, Koppany Pines is the place to recharge, rebalance and reconnect! The nearest station is at Pincehely, 34 minutes. Two hours from Budapest accessible by bus and train. Day trips possible.
