The decor is unpretentious and colourful, the subdued lighting creates a warm, welcoming mood with many nooks and crannies to read a book or sit and watch the birds in the garden. It's perfect for those who need a quiet place to relax, recharge and refocus with their family or friends - and it is pet-friendly with a fully enclosed yard. The area has a village feel and a slower pace and many locals go for daily walks to the beach with their dogs and they usually stop for breakfast at the local coffee shop. The house is within 10 min by car to Hemel And Aarde Valley and all it's wine estates and top eateries. The recent installation of a gas cooking hob and a gas geyser, as well as an inverter-battery system for essentials (lights, fridge, TV, laptop and phone charging), means guests will not be inconvenienced by power cuts and load shedding. Festina Lente In Onrus is within walking distance from Onrus Beach, a small white-sand beach popular with families with small children or bodyboarders. It is 10 min by car from world-famous wine estates, blue flag beaches, restaurants and whale-watching cliff paths. Nature lovers also appreciate the many hikes in fynbos areas close by. Adventure lovers appreciate the house's proximity to the local beach for its surfing, and less than 15 min away, there are facilities for horse riding, ziplining in treetops, go-carting or sea kayaking. Checking in is contactless with the host welcoming guests with a WhatsApp phone call to answer any questions. Kindly note that there are stairs at each entrance which may make it difficult for people with limited mobility.

We love discovering new places and meeting people. When guests choose to stay at Festina Lente in Onrus we trust that they will enjoy every minute at the house, but also while discovering the wonders of the area. Although this is our holiday home, it's wonderful to know others enjoy staying in it, too. It's a place of peace for people to relax, refocus and recharge as we do with our cat princesses who travel with us when we book the place for ourselves. The Overberg has so many restaurants and natural beauty to enjoy. We often walk to the nearby beach along the spectacular peninsula and grab a cappuccino at the local coffee shop. Onrus has a number of eateries and takeaway shops and the pizzeria down the road is ideal for a social evening dinner. We live off-site so guests have exclusive use of the property during their stay. We keep in contact via WhatsApp and we have local agents on hand to assist if necessary. We are always available to respond quickly if guests have questions or need suggestions.

Onrus still has a village feel where neighbors greet and take evening walks. Onrus Beach and lagoon are within walking distance from the house. In summer, little ones play in the warm, shallow river estuary under the watchful eye of their mothers while dads and teenagers take on the waves at the popular surf spot. Onrus has quaint restaurants and pubs and the area is 4 km away from the buzz of mid-town Hermanus. Be sure to take a walk on the cliff paths in Hermanus during summer to watch whales cavorting in the bay, or visit a local winery in the world-renowned Hemel-en-Aarde Valley.
