This place is new (or newly remodeled), has comfortable beds, is very clean and in overall good condition. The staff were great--friendly and very helpful. It's centrally located and there are several restaurant options nearby, and although there's no breakfast, they did have complimentary coffee in the lobby.

The staff. Very helpful. I stayed from 7/21 to 7/22. It was two guys on reception who helped me a lot with my "no Spanish" and everything. I'm so grateful for their kindness. If I come back one day I will definitely stay at this hotel

    People are NOT FRIENDLY, bad acctitud. If you go to a restaurant even great ones you PAY FIRST and them you get your meal served. I went to don pollo and paid first, badrooms were disgusting and the food came with roches. we left leaving the food served on the table.

    Ipiales is about 20 mins driving from Las Lajas which was...

    Ipiales is about 20 mins driving from Las Lajas which was named as the most beautiful church in South America. After I wend there, I agreed that it is very beautiful and the design is unique. Ipiales is also 10 mins driving from the border to Ecuador. I had no issue to cross the land border in 15 mins.

    Traffic in the city is very heavy, bordering on chaotic. Taxis are recommended by this traveller. I would never try to drive there. You must know Spanish, or you will be lost. A good translator app is helpful. A very nice restaurant is the Catedral Cafe, near the beautiful San Juan de Pasto Cathedral. We also enjoyed the Casona Taminango historical museum and day trips to the amazing Sanctuary of Las Lajas and the Laguna de la Cocha, where we took a boat excursion to the Isla La Corota and had the best trout ever at the Rancho Grande Restaurant.

    There is nothing in Ipiales.

    There is nothing in Ipiales. It's a dirty place, with shady characters that you wouldnt miss much by skipping this place completely. However, it's THE border town so you have to go here. While you're here make the best of it! Definitely go to Las Lajas Sanctuary during your stay. If Ipiales is a 0, Las Lajas Sanctuary is a 10!

    It is a lovely city to connect with nature.

    It is a lovely city to connect with nature. Very clean has great public transportation. Best part is the people! They are friendly and helpful. There are lots of places to visit! Laguna de la Cocha, La cascada y Basílica de Sandoval, the Waterfalls hot springs! However Maragato Fall has no access! Is no longer available to public but it is on google maps as a must see.
