- Scored out of 10, guest rating 8.6Excellent - What previous guests thought, 393 reviewsThis was a once-in-a-lifetime experience and it was worth every penny. It’s not just a place to stay, it’s a whole package of activities and meals. When I arrived, I was a bit too early for check-in, so I was invited to do a tea tasting on a beautiful balcony overlooking the lake. While I sampled 8 different types of tea, I watched a family of wild boars trot past, and I couldn’t help but laugh when a monkey stole a box of tea from a neighboring table. When I was invited to my bubble lodge, I was blown away by the details - flower petals on the bed, stunning views of nature. It would be perfect for a honeymoon, but I also enjoyed it as a solo traveler. I spent my afternoon watching the animals from my bubble - monkeys, wild boars, a black swan. I also took a long walk around the lake. The dinner (included in the room reservation) was exquisite. Three delicious courses and plenty of vegetarian options. I also really liked the tea bread served with tea chutney. During my dinner, I watched Java deer just outside of the panoramic windows. After dinner, I had a beautiful nighttime walk back to my bubble, and I laid in bed watching the stars and listening to animals rustling in the trees. When I awoke in the morning, I found that a pair of Java deer were looking into my bubble, and the black swan was also right outside. I took a rain shower outdoors with a bit of actual rain mixed in. I had a delicious breakfast that consisted of crepes, an omelet, yogurt, juice, tea, and more of my favorite tea bread. Next I borrowed a bicycle from the lodge and rode it to the tea museum, where I learned all about tea, and then I took a guided tour of the Bois Cheri tea factory. At the end, I had yet another tea tasting, and then it was time to check out of my hotel. All-in-all, I had a perfect stay and I really hope that I will have an opportunity to come back someday. I want to give a special shout-out to Tina, who took really good care of me in the restaurant.Guest review byLolaUnited States
- From $37.32 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 7.8Good - What previous guests thought, 722 reviewsI recently had the pleasure of staying at a fantastic apartment that truly exceeded my expectations. From the moment I arrived, I was impressed by how clean and well-maintained the space was. It was evident that great care had been taken to ensure everything was in top condition. All the amenities I could possibly need were provided, making my stay not only comfortable but also convenient. I particularly appreciated the thoughtful touches that made the apartment feel like a home away from home. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and will definitely be returning in the future. I wholeheartedly recommend this place to anyone looking for a great accommodation experience—without any hesitation!Guest review byYogandraCanada
- From $216.25 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 7.5Good - What previous guests thought, 782 reviewsFirst of all, I want to thank the resort for hiring great staff such as "Megha and Jarvin" Megha has the nicest smile and welcoming, she helped me a lot and made me feel at home, I'm sure I'll be coming back specially for her. As for Jarvin, he helped me arrange my activities outside the resort, he helped getting me a great taxi driver, who became a friend as well, sorry Jarvin if I gave you hard times with my late requests. Thank you everyone at Outrigger, you made my week really memorable, looking forward to visit again!Guest review byQueenBSaudi Arabia
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 8.2Very Good - What previous guests thought, 2,174 reviewsWe had a really pleasent stay in Preakil Island Resort. We had only one night stay but we regreted about it. We thought we could have stayed more after we were in the hotel. We experienced the warmth of Mauritian hospitality once we arrived the hotel. We were offered early check in without any additional cost. Food was good. Hotel offers many activities including the water adventure when you book Half board or Full board which is excellent.Guest review byNipunaSri Lanka
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 7.7Good - What previous guests thought, 152 reviewsEverything. The location was great and although we had a lot of rain, the view was beautiful and there are so many birds around. The lodge itself is decorated nicely and the bed is comfy. The utensils and cooking facilities are ample. The breakfast is simple but enough (per person: 2 eggs, 3 slices of bread, jam, butter, cornflakes, yogurt, milk and fruit juice). Thank you, I highly recommend it.Guest review bySamanthaUnited Kingdom
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 8.6Excellent - What previous guests thought, 104 reviewsWe had a wonderful stay at Heritage The Villas. The villa was spacious and private, and the resort facilities were excellent — especially the restaurants, golf courses, and overall peaceful atmosphere. Everything was well maintained and the service was outstanding. We used the golf cart to get around between the villa and the facilities, which was very convenient and fun.Guest review byHessaUnited Arab Emirates

The town offers a more authentically local atmosphere than beach resorts, although admittedly there is no beach on this part of the Mauritian coast, so the area attracts a different kind of traveller. It is a rather run-down place but has considerable charm. The waterfront is a lovely (if windy) area to stroll around and the town has some interesting historical attractions - also a few kilometres away, in Vieux Grand Port, the site of the first landing on the island (by the Dutch, in 1598). One matter to be aware of concerns going out for dinner in the town. There are plenty of restaurants in the central area, many of them very welcoming and with very good food, however: - the streets are very poorly lit after dark, resulting in considerable stretches where a torch/phone light is useful; - most streets have no pavements, or very uneven/poor quality pavements where they do exist, so you have to walk in the road - watch your step and beware traffic that rushes past, often very suddenly (however, the local drivers are good at swerving to avoid pedestrians)! - unnervingly, there are large numbers of dogs roaming around on the streets - this seems to be the case all over Mauritius, even in the capital, albeit to a lesser extent. By day they are very placid and tend to shy away from people, but after dark they are often uncomfortably territorial and can be aggressive.Guest review byDavidUnited Kingdom - 10.0
Nothing was lacking
Nothing was lacking The 2nd floor villa with a balcony view to the garden and sea was private with a superb vista it had a very well stocked kitchen with excellent cooking facilities. Every attention to detail had been given with pottery and art it was aesthetically pleasing. provisions were easy to get and at short distance to obtain. what wasn’t evident from its description was its peace and privacy which for us gave the restorative and restful holiday we required.Guest review byAnnaUnited Kingdom - 10.0

We stayed for a day at the Shandri Beachcomber (bought a day pass) and the snorkeling from their beach was fantastic . Absolute amazing location but I wouldn't stay overnight there. Way too exensive for a dated resort and we weren't impressed by the quality of food and drink (it is an all inclusive resort) but you can't beat the location.Guest review byMariaAustralia - 10.0

Excellent location in an area that boasts greenery and nature at its best. Tamassa Bel Ombre is located next to two golf courses, a natural reserve and barely minutes away from other landmarks in Mauritius (south). Roads are safe - so it's easy to drive around but if you are after a complete relaxing holiday, venturing out of Tamassa is purely an extra then. The resort is fully equipped and offers a great opportunity for swimming, snorkeling, para-kiting in a well protected and clean bay.Guest review bySaidMalta - 8.0

Mahébourg has a beautiful waterfront. I prefer the modern part of the city versus the downtown area which has narrower streets. Historical Mahébourg Museum is worth visiting. Don’t forget the delicious Biscuits Manioc!Guest review byFrancoiseUnited States - 10.0

I came in with some reservation due to the wind that was considered to be a problem by other visitors. Some others were ranking the West coast over the East Coast (we were on the East Coast) but after visiting the entire island, we were very happy about our choice.Guest review byAlbrUnited States - 10.0

No ATM to draw cash.. most shops only deal with cash. Blue bay has a bus stop that takes 15 minutes to get to Mahebourg from where you can take a bus to any part off the Island. I stayed here with my 3 kids, the kids club looked great although we didn't use it. We stayed for 3 nights and that was enough for us to break the city routine of our everyday life. Krishna from the concierge organised a fun day out to Chamarelle where we saw the 7 sand earth, giant turtles and the magnificent waterfall. We ended the day at Curious Corner which the kids (and I loved).Guest review byMonaUnited Arab Emirates
