We arrived at 21:30 and we decided to do not eat dinner, even if they offered us (the kitchen close at 21 normally). We took a very varius breackfast and we spended the day at the pool and in the jacuzzi (on the last floor). We ate a delicious dinner (fish) in Saturday night. The water is not good for drink, so we bought before some bottles (but I think you can also buy from the reception) and the spa/pool area is open from 12 until 20. Chişcău was the last accomodation in Romania before traveling 800 km to North (the illage is only 120 km from RO/ HU border). Zalau is a small but charming town, its surrounding areas being absolutely amazing landscapes. We had a tour of the churches, very spiritual and beautifully decorated. The locally grown food is excellent, as the locally distilled plum brandy, which is no. 1 in the country. What a beautiful place! We thoroughly enjoyed every moment in this amazing cabin. It was such a peaceful place to rest, away form the busyness of normal life. The location is close to Arieseni (mountain area, ski area, with a lot of things to do). Bear's Cave is amazingly beautiful. Definitely worth visiting. It takes about 30-45 minutes to visit and about 10-15 minutes to enter from buying the ticket to organizing the group. Arieseni is one of my darling ski resorts, since my youth, when it was just a village with a snowy hill closeby. Today is a tourist destination in Transylvania and Apuseni Mountains, a hub for both day trips or weklong backpacking hikes. There are caves and canyons to visit, horseback rides, steam train adventures and just breathtaking beauty landscapes. There are plenty of family restaurants (if you are looking for a McDonalds, you're in the wrong place), with delicious local food (try the trout, the polenta or the thick gulash soup). Visit the unique caves of Scarisoara (the world biggest ice cave) or Bears Cave, where 141 cave bears died 17000 years ago) or ride the vintage steam train along the Aries Valley.Guest review byIoanCanada - 4.0

Great location with lake views. Amazing potential for the area. No easy access to the take, many private villas, some quite opulent and not fitting the area style / not build using the traditional style, are blocking lake access in most places, many private roads, big dogs roaming around. No hiking or biking trails, no kayaking service. A crumbling resort from the 90s waiting for a buyer... A wonderful nature with a lot of wasted potential, typical post-Communist Romania situation.
