Red Lion Hotel by Greene King Inns, hotel in Milcombe

This historic coaching inn dates back to before the English Civil War. Just 3 miles from Banbury, there is a traditional bar, a restaurant and rooms with free Wi-Fi overlooking the village green.

Perfect location for attending a wedding up the road. Walkable back at night. Lovely friendly staff, beautiful room with character and fantastic bathroom. They were also great at accommodating me for lunch and breakfast as a Coeliac.

Banbury Wroxton House Hotel, hotel in Milcombe

Felt cute cottage like but actually was like a Tardis. The shower was great and the bed comfortable although I had a superior room the bed was just a standard double!

The George Inn, hotel in Milcombe

Set in Barford Saint Michael, 21 km from Blenheim Palace, The George Inn offers accommodation with a garden, free private parking, a terrace and a restaurant.

Nice pub old worldly with a modern twist nice eating area and bedroom in block outside as well as in the building. We stayed this time and I’m afraid I was very disappointed. The manager was run of his feet because of shortness of staff. On the website it says it’s a seafood place. Only seafood was fish and chips. Food was nice but I did find manager rude. Ok he was busy but that was not my fault. I did take him to see the bed throw on our bed because it was stained. It did look like blood. But he said it wasn’t and that was that. After that I’m afaid he took a dislike I think. I only pointed it out because I didn’t want the blame. And also it really shouldn’t have been there in the first place. Not with the money they charge per room. I stay and review a lot of hotels and pubs and felt really uncomfortable. He apologised to my husband about been run of his feet. But I’m afraid it was to the wrong person . Im the person whom picks where we stay and also writes a lot of reviews.

The Lismore Hotel, hotel in Milcombe

Situated in the historic market town of Banbury, The Lismore Hotel is an impressive Victorian building with a restaurant, and free parking.

Nothing! The room stank of gloss paint - it was overpowering. The bed was ok, however the linen was “brand new” and still had the manufacturers dressing on it. The bathroom had a lock on the outside of the door, but, importantly , not one on the inside of the door. The mirror was suspended by string, was heavy, and if dislodged would have caused serious damage. There were no net curtains, to provide some privacy at ground floor level. The television didn’t work. The only light switch in the room meant having to switch off, by the door, and then blindly find your way to bed. There was no catering, no breakfast, and no evening meal. The man on the desk was very rude and not helpful, or interested. To be charged £120, for this lack of any hospitality, is an insult and a disgrace. The “hotel” should be closed until such time as it is able to provide any hospitality. The description on booking.com, is absolutely and totally misleading. We were advised £100 and then billed for £120, adds insult to injury. And it makes our faith in booking.com, severely tested, and in doubt for any future bookings. There are many other booking agents.
