I would appreciate a better orientation system in hotel and also some more cosy chair in the room.

Hřensko, a small village in the Czech Republic, is best navigated on foot due to its compact size. Public transport is limited, with no local bus or train services. That corner of Czechia has been described as the lowest point of the country in elevation, and also in taste. There are numerous shops, all run by Vietnamese, selling the same unbranded shirts, shoes, etc. Anything that was branded was of dubious authenticity. I was caught out a few times as credit cards are generally unknown and ATM's will charge CZK195 (!) per cash transaction. Don't expect a convenience store selling day-to-day items, as the shops I visited focussed mainly on bottled drinks, alcohol and cigarettes. However, the location is simply amazing.

The landscape is truly unique in this part of Europe.
The landscape is truly unique in this part of Europe. Despite some trails being closed because of recent forest fires, there was still plenty hiking. I can't remember my last trip when I went "wow!" multiple times a day. Four days is definitely not enough to take in the sheer beauty of this location. We were there in october and the autumn landscapes felt like living in a painting, superb!

The village itself is rather bleak (many closed hotels and restaurants make it so), but then I did not expect it to be the main point of my stay. It's the Bohemian Switzerland National Park that counts and Hřensko (especially the Mezní Louka part where I stayed) is a very convenient base for a walker like myself.

Bring your walking/hiking shoes and check the park schedule.
Bring your walking/hiking shoes and check the park schedule. We were here on closing weekend so it was very busy but we had a great time. We are not in great shale, the hike took us longer than the younger and more fit hikers but the scenery was beautiful and worth the sore legs the next day.

Excellent distinction for those adventurous.
Excellent distinction for those adventurous. The autumn season is just beautiful up in the national park. Unfortunately it was misty and rainy the day we were there. We got to do the boat ride and saw the arch. But the fog limited the iconic images of the arch. Did not get to see anything else on our list. I would recommend staying at least two nights to fully enjoy the hiking, nature and scenery.

Hřensko is a small village, very easy to get around.
Hřensko is a small village, very easy to get around. Although there are many options to eat, thez all serve the same type of cuisine - mostly unhealthy food (svickova, gulas, dumplings); there are very few vegetarian and basically none vegan options for a decent meal. You will get a nice fish at Ceska hospoda and Restaurant U Lipy.
Hrensko is set in a beautiful scenery of the river, rocks and forests, but what disturbes the atmosphere and the genius loci are the cheap clothes/trinkets/tasteless music stands and shops everywhere, focused to cater mainly the German clientelle. The town would do itself a favour if it would rebrand itself and offer some quality traditional Czech or local products/crafts.
Staff were super friendly! As a young solo English speaking tourist, the man at reception was basically the only person in Hrensko who didn't have an attitude with me. He was super helpful in telling me about the local sights and was extremely friendly in general. The room was very spacious and overlooked the stream which was lovely. Shower took a few minutes to heat up but did get there eventually! Included breakfast was fantastic as well. Overall I loved my stay here and would recommend it to anyone.
Very nice, renovated and family friendly Hotel. We had an apartment with two rooms for 5 people. I would say especially, nice location to spend time also with smaller children, because there is a big playground infront of the hotel and also play corner on the groundfloor inside of the house. Near the hotel is Cafe, where you can order very delicious, homemade and also traditional food. Everything is very close. Hiking trail is just 5 minutes walk from the hotel.
This apartment is incredible! Beautiful area, near many hiking trails. Restaurants are a quick walk across the street. Nicely furnished, with full kitchen and great amenities. We appreciated the host’s extra effort in providing things like shower caps, makeup remover, lotion, and shampoo. The host seemed to have thought of every detail. :) They also included a welcome gift of wine and chocolates! Wonderful place, wonderful host. Highly recommended!
The pension was very clean and quiet. We were on the street side but did not hear traffic or the trains with the windows shut and did not hear the other hotel guests. The pension is newly and tastefully renovated. The staff was very helpful. The breakfast was very good, and the breakfast room was bright and cheerful. We really appreciated the in-room safe so we didn't need to hike with all our valuables. The pension was also an excellent value.
Located in the heart of Czech Switzerland this hotel allows access to multiple nature trails in the vicinity.
Comfy bungalow room, nice view with a personal terrace are nice to spend time during warm days.
Nice restaurant.
As of Spring 2023: For those, travelling for hikes: Be aware, that last year forest fire happened close by, large portion of the forest to the west of the hotel was burned down and is considered unsafe! Better go east!
It's located perfectly, I saw no better located place than this. Why? It's right in the middle of the national park on the main trail going through the park, with the more forested areas being around the hotel rather than Hrensko. It also has a very atmospheric restaurant with a great terrace overlooking the park. Next to that the staff was really lovely; I felt like being a guest in a very nice and warm family home.
Very nice room with incredibly comfortable bed. Very close to the S-Bahn (via 2 min ferry), the river and beautiful walks. On quite a busy road, but we asked for a quiet room at the back of the hotel and couldn't hear any noise with the windows closed. Staff were very friendly and let us leave our bags when we went for a final hike after checking out. Would definitely recommend!
Pension Jitřenka Hřensko is one of the most comfortable and clean places we stayed in, everything is great about this hotel the location which is overlooking the river and close to most of the attractions nearby, exceptional breakfast with a great varieties, cleanliness of the room, very helpful staff, if I had to visit Hřensko again I would for sure stay again in this hotel.
It was a great experience to stay at this hotel. We loved the views , the breakfast and atmosphere of the place which has a long and interesting history. People here are great. If you are looking for something more than a regular bed & breakfast with modern amenities it is the right choice for you.
Great facilities, clean, comfortable, bus stops right outside the property. The staff was helpful and attentive. Our room was exactly what I expected. Located well in the middle of the national park. Fast Wi-Fi in the hotel room. Hiking trails to the forest are adjacent to the property.
This hotel offered exactly what we wanted from our holidays at NP Ceske Svycarsko -located in the heart of the national park, the room was super comfortable and clean, the reception staff was friendly and provided excellent tips for hiking in the local area. The breakfast was tasty.
Great location, in the middle of Bohemian Switzeland National Park, walking distance from Hrensko, Mezná. Ideal as a base for trips to nearby gorges, rock formations (Pravcicka brana, Saustejn).
Great breakfast, a bit more expensive, but worth it.
Fantastic location. We had a problem with the room on the last day. Staff came over in 10 minutes but couldn't fix the problem. Within an hour they had arranged for us to be transferred to the main hotel - best possible service.
I was at the hotel last Saturday with my wife visiting from Düsseldorf.
What a great place to stay! 😍😍😍
The staff was really nice and helpful.
Certainly we will visit Mezna again and again.
Very nice place, great location, everything was clean. The double rooms are pretty small, but cozy. Parking right in front of the hotel and quick and efficient self check in.
Very nice hotel in the perfect location to explore Saxon Bohemian area! Hotel staff was friendly. The room was nice and spacious with a balcony overlooking the the canal!
