We are a friendly couple who love welcoming guests in our spacious fully renovated one-bedroom gîte in Nord Charente. La Maison Mauve offers the perfect getaway for couples looking to escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life and enjoy a comfortable and relaxing stay in a character property. The gîte is located in a peaceful hamlet surrounded by beautiful countryside ideal for walking and on/off-road cycling amongst the famous Charente sunflower fields. A secure undercover area is available to store, wash and maintain bikes. We are both keen ramblers and cyclists and can help you plan your days. We can provide IGN hiking maps and copies of our favourite routes. Some of our bike rides take in the picturesque towns of Nanteuil-en-Vallée and Verteuil-sur-Charente, where you can reward yourself with coffee or a lovely meal overlooking the stunning castle. If you prefer to drive, these towns are only 15 minutes away, and so are Ruffec and Mansle, with various restaurants, supermarkets and other amenities, as well as canoeing bases on the Charente river. A little further afield, you’ll find historic La Rochefoucauld with its imposing château. For those interested in retail therapy and café culture, Angoulême, the capital of comics, is only a 35-minute drive away.
