first we had a room which was a bit loud so we asked to switch rooms and the staff was really understanding and helpful so we got a perfect quiet and clean room. the green garden surrounding was beautiful and the sunset at the hotel beach breathtaking. breakfast was really nice (try the Thai coffee) and if you want to eat elsewhere there are plenty of restaurants just around the corner directly at the beach. if you’re looking for a relaxed stay in koh Chang we definitely recommend.

Amazing resort, relatively small and only bungalows (no tall building with lots of rooms). Jungle garden was great, very green. Room was clean and very luxurious, lots of light. Bathroom very large with big bath and nice shower. Cleaned perfectly every day. Lovely staff, very friendly ladies at breakfast. Breakfast good and varied. Infinity pool large and clean, near the beach. Enough beach loungers for everyone. Many restaurants along the beach for dinner/drinks. Were able to arrange tour and transfer from reception. Decided to take a punt on staying at Big Elk from a shortlist of places I had identified in hindsight my only regret was not to have been staying there for longer. It's located at the bend of the road, so I've probably missed it on previous trips to Koh Chang, but once inside it's a beautiful set-up of really nice bungalows located around a pool. The bungalows themselves are really nice - lovely furnishings and very quiet. The setting is great with the jungle in the background and with the restaurant and reception at the front there is no traffic sounds at all. Best of all are the staff - really friendly and helpful and make for a great stay there, including the lovely cats and dogs. Have to also give a mention to the food at Big Elk, which is really marvellous, very high quality. All in all a great place to stay and we'll definitely be back.
