It was the first town we stayed in The Gambia, while we were traveling with cars. The hosts were super nice and very very helpful. Staying there was really refreshing! Offering a restaurant, AbCa's Creek Lodge is located in the inlands about 85 km from the coast. The accommodation will provide you with a balcony. Private bathroom also comes with a shower. We absolutely loved our stay at AbCa's Creek Lodge! The lodge is charming with a variety of different seating areas along the creek. Ansu the guide gave us a great hiking tour, as well as a lovely boat tour through the mangroves, where we saw a variety of birds. Do note that the creek tide ebbs and flows - the creek looks nearly empty in the late afternoon compared to the morning, so time your water activities accordingly. We later went kayaking through the mangroves which was beautiful though we opted to turn around instead of going all the way to the village which meant fighting the current and ebbing tide - a bit of a physical feat but well worth the adventure! The staff was very accommodating, including storing our luggage late and organizing a driver to and from the Lodge (who also kindly stopped at the artisanal market en route). Our wooden stilt room had both a fan and A/C and was quite comfortable (though note the bathroom is private but open to the air, so beware some mosquitoes and spiders). Food options were plentiful and delicious. Absolutely loved relaxing outside watching dozens of monkeys! Highly recommend, this was our favorite part of our visit in The Gambia.

Offering an outdoor pool, Fathala Wildlife Reserve is located in Toubakouta. The property offers a wildlife experience. Free private parking is possible on site. I liked everything about Fathala Wildlife Reserve. The tented room was large, quiet, clean and very comfortable. The A/C worked well, and I paid for a router in the room to have excellent WiFi connections. I loved the outdoor shower, and the peace and serenity of the setting.

Directly on the kilometer long beach. Perfect bathing conditions (slightly sloping, no currents, no rocks, no dangerous fish/jellyfish, etc.). Free sunbeds. Super nice staff. Great breakfast, lunch and dinner (also vegetarian if desired). The huts are large and comfortable including large mosquito nets. All huts are solar powered. ps. They have German Beer and Wine from South Africa :)
