Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesStaff was excellent, they were very welcoming and accommodated an early check in on New Years and let me hang around the common areas for a bit after check out. Overall it's about what can be expected at a hostel. Good amount or bathrooms, so I never had to wait to shower.

United KingdomThe hostel is not really clean, kitchen, bathrooms and rooms. They said every day someone is coming to clean the rooms.. they actually don’t really do it. they just take away the trash. Kitchen can be really a mess. Not space in the fridge or in the kitchen to keep own things.
The location is in a perfect position! The hostel is in the center of Manly, your can reach it easily from the ferry, and it’s close to everything.. shop, bars and beach!

AustraliaI don't recommend it at all, terrible option. Being in the room is a real sauna. it is extremely expensive. There is nothing in “free food” because those who have been living there eat everything for YEARS. A terrible experience, probably the worst I have ever had in my life.

United StatesVery uncomfortable bunk bed, hard to get into, hot on top bunk, could not leave windows open due to partying at night and construction in the morning. Bathroom shower stalls were moldy and gross. Ping-pong area never got vacuumed. No plugs to charge phone available when room was even half full. Young clientele left common area dirty, played music loudly and smoked where you were not supposed to. Hard to reach staff to check in at 9 pm. Checked out early but could not get a refund.
Only liked the location. Very close to Manly Beach. Good for surfboarders, urging by clientele.

Australiavery poorly cleaned, I saw staff mopping the corridors but they really needed to use a vacuum cleaner first, just like the room we were in, the floor was very dirty
Unfortunately, nothing pleased us, the floor of the room was very dirty and dusty, as were all the social areas.

OmanOverpriced, 4 bed dormitory was very untidy. Not being racist but the Argentina people living there were rude and arrogant. Management was horrible. Toilets were filthy, congested and untidy. Too noisy and no respect for others. I hope the backpackers association takes stringent action.
Nothing was good about this backpacker. Worst backpacker I have lived in Sydney.

AustraliaNo bar fridge in room This is only minor but having to walk up stairs to use the fridge in the communal kitchen was a bit annoying as this was a private room
I was pleasantly surprised the room was fresh and clean view over the Corso and to Manly beach It's close to restaurants and shops

South KoreaFacilities and room were dirty, bed sheets were itchy and full of bugs, I left with many bites. The people in the room next door to mine (which I'm pretty sure was a staff room) were smoking drugs often, and the stench of their weed polluted my room, the toilet, and the bathroom. Common areas were a mess. Sand everywhere. 0/10.
Location was good. Thats all.

AustraliaA little run down. Ad listing is not at all clear that it is intended for only under 35yo. And this is an unacceptable policy in the first place. However, the listing needs to have this information very bold and clear on the title of the listing like other places do.

AustraliaNot only did we have noise from outside nut noise from above was worse. The bed was only a double a bit small for my tall husband, with a slump in the middle, should be upgraded to a queen bed. The bathroom could do wirh a good clean mould and grime on bottom of shower curtain also grime on the wall where it meets the floor, needs a good scrub.
The location was great, except for the noise from local venues. Staff at front desk could not have been any nicer, very welcoming and friendly.

AustraliaThis has happened to me and others that I was there with multiple others that there is a problem being able to get into the front door. My card didn't work and it's happened the last 3 times that I've stayed there. Having to stand out in the freezing cold when I've paid $175 to stay overnight and I can't even get back in after leaving the building. Even after calling the night manager's number. Not impressed at all 😡😡😡

AustraliaThe price for a private beedroom I understand is quite fair . Specifically because Manly is one of the best places in Sydney. It is already expensive to live there. But It would be amazing If the price was a little bit cheaper only for people with specific situations. Of course Temporarily. At the end of the day is a business and rent for this type of properties , strata fees , staff etc cost so much so I think the Government should give some help to owners of beautiful places like this. It helps Increase the revenue of the Area when people can spend more outdoors by supporting local businesses etc I have nothing to complain about I really loved this place and I can't wait to come back for a chilling weekend. Thankyou , God bless you all
Friendly polite staff. Cleaning on everyday basis. Multicultural environment. Books, Art , Free Breakfast and other resources available.
