the shared kitchen makes the hostel like a big family when lots of poeple cooking and eating their supper. It's a feeling of warm and happiness. And the landscape just outside the hostel, the beach, is amazing.

The room temperature was unexpectedly low in mid-April. Radiator in room should be turned on. Many bathrooms were non-foundational and closed. Had to go to the another one.

Location is awesome. One minute walking distance to the Spanish Bank Beach. The cleanness of restrooms was awesome.

No public transport to location makes it hard when you have bags and taxi is only option. Only two bowls in kitchen so it's like the hunger games trying to find the chance to use one. A few more mugs/cups wouldn't go astray either.

It was a bit cold in the dorm room.

It’s 12 minutes away from downtown by car and 40 minutes via bus. Easily accessible. It is located right on the beach. Very clean and quiet place. I like the privacy sections even in the dormitory. Affordable 👍

The doors entering the sleep quarter are very loud when closing. Should have signs telling guest to be quiet say after 9-10:00 pm. Some guest do there best to not let the door slam and others don’t.

The facility was very clean. I appreciated that. Some hostel are not very clean.

Not much natural light in the dorm - but that's a bit of a luxury!

Very clean and comfortable hostel with great cooking facilities especially. Comfortable bed. Located in a nice quiet spot, but super easy to get to the heart of Vancouver in about 45 mins by cheap and good public transport.

I arrived late and had to pound on the door for quite some time before anyone came to answer. I tried calling but no one picked up the call. It was a bit worrisome because it’s a bit remote. I also worried at night when I heard others coughing. Perhaps people should be advised to wear masks if they have symptoms.

Nice walking possibilities around the hostel. I also enjoyed the restaurant on site and the ample shared kitchen space.

I saw a cockroach in the kitchen. Also, bed was very uncomfortable; couldn't sleep very well.

Staff were very friendly. Other guests were also very friendly. Staff arranged nighly games nights in the TV lounge.

Some people were disrespectful with after hour quietness in the common area outside the dorm. The kitchen was very disorganized and had to eat out of a pot as there was no bowls for soup. Very sloppy cookers didn’t clean up after themselves.

Timing of clean-up : Bathrooms and kitchen were being cleaned in the morning when people want to have breakfast or need to get ready.

The place is good value for price paid and located in a nice and calm neighborhood, close to downtown.

Bed was not as comfortable as at other HI I’ve stayed, bath/shower room for our wing had closed for cleaning and out of order sign up for most of the time I was there

Staff were very friendly and helpful, and the person who checked me in was bilingual and able to help the person behind me check in in a language they were comfortable speaking!

There are many things to complain about this hostel. First of all, however, it seems that the dorm rooms are for 4 people, but there are 14 people in a designed block, which causes more noise and other problems. The place is not that clean if you are obsessed.

However the location is far from the city center, but it is in front of a beautiful park and beach. It is a big old hostel with a big kitchen, 3 large basins, and a cafe attached to the hostel. A lot of facilities in the kitchen for residents.

The location was far enough out of town to reduce the noise and close enough to all needed facilities via TransLink.

I traveled for work so I needed a place to connect and work for a few hours and I couldn't find a suitable one. The hallways were crowded with guests and there were no electrical outlets in the room to be able to connect a laptop. Many electrical outlets seemed very old and unsafe to me.

The surroundings are beautiful, I was able to spend a little time on the beaches and parks that are around, the place is very happy and vibrant due to the diversity of guests they have, I enjoyed my stay
