Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

DenmarkStaff (receptionist) often absent. While breakfast is included, it is, in fact, a kitchen at your disposal, and you need to prepare it yourself and do the dishes afterwards. It was a bit crowded and awkward at times (and not always clean).
Smart rooms, great location. The rooftop is also appreciated.

CanadaRoom would have been small for 2 people and there was no comfortable chair to relax in. Breakfast was DIY with fruit, bread and eggs to cook for yourself. No decaf coffee or gluten free bread. Shower and toilet separate from wash basin which was in the bedroom.
This interesting hotel lives up to its name. The room was very modern with a bed that pushed up to the ceiling leaving room for a drop down table, bench and folding chair by day. Spotlessly clean. Lovely roof terrace with fireplace and a shady courtyard. Very good location for exploring the city and very close to many excellent restaurants and the departure point for local tours.

GermanyThe bed takes up the whole room when pulled down, so be aware that a big suitcase has to be under the bed for storage
Compact little room, with a bed that can be pushed up and stored under the ceiling so a table can be pulled out. The hotel has a kitchen available where you can cook.

AustraliaNo wardrobe space. That could be remedied with extra hooks/ pegs on the wall to hang clothing from. Small pool of water under the fridge. Could either be the fridge or the basin above it.
Small rooms, as mentioned. Wasn't expecting the lifting bed! The make your own meals is a good idea for the budget traveller, and the location is 11 out if 10. Our courtyard room was very quiet. the rooms on the street may be different. Ditto the rooms near the elevator. Bonus points for the terrace as courtyard. While reception is unmanned much of the day, when they were there the staff were helpful, and spoke excellent English. Just as well as my French is horrible. Plenty of food options within easy walking distance too. Friendly locals as well.

CanadaBecause of the design of the bed/table structure. the bed is slightly too high to get into it comfortably, you always need to hop in. I'm 5ft10 and I've never had this problem before. The worst part is it was just a question of inches, 2-3 inches at most. It's just unfortunate that it was designed like this. The layout of the "lobby" to get into our rooms was a bit awkward. You had to walk in by the big glass door, then walk to the end of the lobby, then turn left and walk back, then turn right and walk forward again to some stairs. It happened a couple of times where we ran into other people in the little backwards corridor.
Perfect location in the heart of Old Quebec. Easily reachable from St-Jean street which makes it super easy to find. The yard and terrace were really cool, tho we didn't spend much time there. The combination of amenities in the room and the shared kitchen was a good middle ground between a hostel and a hotel.

United StatesThe room was a bit tight on space to move around in. If we weren’t sleeping, we really couldn’t relax and lounge for a while. Some tv channels would be nice. Couldn’t really figure out how to sign on. And cream for coffee would be nice!
Great location, close to everything! Restaurants, parking garage. The room was quirky and very different from regular hotels. We like quirky and unique. It had everything we needed and a nice view of Quebec. Comfortable bed. We liked the heat pump feature. Everything was labeled and very modern. Great utilization of small space. Friendly staff! Nice variety of breakfast foods. Had a good laugh when first walking into the room and wondered “how are we going to climb into the bed”? Realized it had to be pulled down. :)

PhilippinesNo interaction with any of the hotel staff. When we arrived there was a person at the counter but since there was an online check in he did not even greet us or ask us if he could assist with the online check in. The bed was a little high for us. The bathroom exhaust was not working.
Room has most of the things we need. We can also get coffee and cook food anytime of the day.

PhilippinesWe could've used more pillows. The two we had were quite beat, not really fluffy. The room also could've used some cleverly designed shelves on the walls for more storage space. We just had the drawer under the seat and the hooks on the wall for our coats. The kitchen also could've used some new non-stick pans. Some of those were not very good for making eggs or pancakes and were quite worn out.
We really loved having a communal kitchen that we can use any time. The dining area was also really cozy. I really don't understand the negative reviews regarding the breakfast provided. Sure it was basic fare for breakfast but it was well stocked and replenished every morning. Having that was really helpful for us travelling on a certain budget. The room was unlike anything we've stayed at before. The space was a bit small but utilized with creative minimalism. We couldn't figure out how to bring down the bed at first because we thought we had to press a button that we couldn't find anywhere. Turns out we just had to stow away the dining table and just pull the bed down. The bed was a bit high but not really an issue. The view from our room was lovely specially at sunset. The Morrin Centre is just out front, and there was even a Ghost Tour one evening. It was quite fun and interesting looking out the window seeing the tour guides in costume. Overall, we loved our cozy and relaxing stay here. I'd say for the price we paid, it was really worth it!

AustraliaThe shower water splashed out a bit though it wasn’t so bad after we lowered the shower curtain. You have to be able to carry your luggage up the stairs.

CanadaThe mattress is really hot and uncomfortable but the pillows are good. Sink not in bathroom. Breakfast is very rudimentary (eggs, bread, ok oranges and pancake mix)
Location very central. Walked to main attractions, restaurants. Communal kitchen was very convenient although fellow guests do not always wash after themselves. This hotel and Hotel Champlain have the same owner and the staff there is exceptional, so if there is a problem at Atypiq, we can get help from Champlain.

United StatesRegularly in hotels there is always a person in the hotel reception. There is a bit of fear in doing something wrong without someone from the hotel guiding you, but in my case everything was fine.
The location is excellent in a perfect area and the rooms well deserve the atypical category: comfortable but at the same time different from the standards of tourist hotels.

United StatesVery minor thing: if you stay in room 215 near the terrace during the winter, sometimes there is a snow shovel hanging up that can make a faint bumping sound. I just put the snow shovel on the ground, and it was fine after that. But really a very nice stay overall.
Great location right near the old city. Very easy to walk everywhere. The room is small, but cleverly designed and comfortable.
