Everything was very easy, including the unattended check-in. Breakfast very good. Room old fashioned and very comfortable. Perfect for a traveling overnight stay like ours.

Great location, easy self check-in, clean. Thin separating walls - needed to go to wake a neighbor who left TV operating while he was asleep. Pity that the restaurant is closed permanently so you need to drive to a closest one.

We requested to print something and the employee at the desk would not speak to us and did not know how to use the printer. We tried to help show them how to do this on the computer but they shrugged us off. Was a very weird interaction.

Convenient location, self check in late at night was very easy.

I had booked the hotel in about April, for a September trip and in the mean time the management had decided to close the restaurant. Being away from the town centre there was no food available. There must have been 60 or so people staying in the hotel, most looking for an evening meal, if the comings and goings were anything to go by. As a motorcyclist, I dislike booking-in and unloading the 'bike, showering after a long, hot, sticky ride and then having to get the gear back on to go out to eat and back again. It is quite different in a town centre, where I usually book accomodation with no evening food service, as I enjoy the walk around the town to select my evening meal from the many offerings. I did not like the low security aspect of the casual envelope distribution of the keys.

The Hotel zum Maximilian was, for me, a curates egg of a night's stop. I had completed a 390km motorcycle ride accross southern Germany and was tired and hungry. The hotel presents as a smart modern building in a woodland glade just off a major trunk road roundabout, but is set back a bit from the road and is quiet, at least in the room I had on the ground floor facing into the woods. On arrival, I parked up and went to the front door, only to find it locked, this was the restaurant enterance. Fortunately some guests pointed me around to the other face of the hotel where 'reception' was to be found 'Reception' was a table inside the door with thirty or so envelopes on it with guests names and room numbers on. That was reception. I wandered around for a bit getting an idea of the layout and found my room. Neat, tidy, clean with doors opening onto the garden and a good bathroom and shower with excellent flow of hot water, all in all very acceptable. Beer was dispensed from a chiller on the first floor landing so the world did get better. Breakfast was the usual excellent German offering served in the now open dining room.

On arrival there were no hotel personnel to be seen. Our room keys were left on a table in the foyer in an envelop with accompanying letter and information. The lady at breakfast was very busy - I have heard of multitasking but she was under extreme pressure but managed to keep smiling throughout ! Well done to her.

The breakfast was perfectly adequate and the rooms comfortable. The lady serving breakfast was very helpful.

It did not have reception staff, however it all worked out okay, as welcome packets with room keys were left out. Thought room was to have an electric kettle, which it did not.

Nice comfortable room. Breakfast for an additional cost was very nice with many fruit and bread options in addition to coffee, tea and fruit juices.

We havent found this hotel before when viditing Bavaria .

It is a lovely hotel set in the countryside very clean and tidy and the room and facilities were lovely.We felt at home as soon as we arrived .The breakfast and dining room were excrllent .

There isn't an active reception after 1:30 pm and before 7 am and you need to do a self-service check-in/check-out. Keys are left in different envelopes on the entrance countertop with the risk of someone else taking your room for free. Whoever comes in can take the keys, use the rooms and leave without paying and leaving their own data. The phone numbers that are there to be called are either not working or nobody is answering.
