Friendly family-run small hotel in good location

Check-in open from 5pm. No choice at dinner - OK for us but eg fish and meat on same plate wouldn't suit everyone. Parking opposite hotel on gravel with downward slope and vulnerable to being blocked in by snowplough. We parked up the hill but other guests had to dig themselves out or in once case hire a tow truck. Ski room not heated so boots stiff in the morning.

Very convenient for Espiaube gondola so could dodge the crowds to some extent. Food interesting and good quality. Tea and coffee at breakfast especially good. Friendly family-run small hotel with traditional French atmosphere. Room well-maintained with good shower. Nice views of the mountains.

    nothing

The people that run La Sapiniere are lovely people, good at what they do, caring, diligent, talented. We felt that we lucked out with the lovely room coupled with an outstanding food. the chef should be accoladed.

A bit expensive and not directly on the ski slopes (300 yards walk up the hill)

The cosy decoration, in the chalet spirit and good quality bedding.

A little misty but it had nothing to do with the hotel

It was the beginning of the season, I was the only customer. It is remote you have drive up the mountain but the reward is that you are in a relaxing place where I heard the bells of the sheep

Perfect location for our reason to be there but staff could have been a bit more accommodating.
    • Leisure trip
    • Couple
    • King Suite with Balcony
    • Stayed 2 nights

The staff spoke no English and we spoke no French so there was definitely a communication barrier. It gets very cold in the French Pyrenees up in the higher elevations in the evenings and early morning even in mid July. The owners would not turn the heat on in the evening for the guests so the room was pretty much cold the whole stay. Thankfully the room had a big bathtub with hot water! The hotel does not allow or like guests to bring their own food or beverages into the rooms. (We had just stopped at a store and purchased wine and snacks to get us through two days of being in the mountains). The owners probably knew we had our own food and bev's and thankfully did not say anything to us but we felt like we had to sneak which is not cool considering we paid $300+ euros per night.

The location of the hotel was perfect for the reason for our trip to Saint-Sary-Soulan. The views were spectacular. The recent renovation of this ski chalet including the rooms were nicely appointed.
