Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe hotel from the outside looks very rundown, although the interior was a pleasant surprise. Some areas of the room could do with tidying up particularly in respect of the finishes. There were a lot of additional charges and we were overcharged for breakfast which was disappointing.
The room was a good size with all we needed for our stay. Check in was easy and pleasant. The room was generally clean.

United KingdomThe property could do with some signage to the back as that was where the satnav took us initially. We came to a small dead end parking area, the building was on the left. It took us a while to find the front of the building after driving around the area for some time. Realising we were only on the wrong side of the building when we first arrived was frustrating as we were all exhausted from hours of travelling and the late night arrival. Our bathroom sink was blocked, although we didn’t raise this due to the time of night and our short stay of only a few hours before checkout.
Good location for a stopover to or from the ferry port. The rooms were clean and the staff were friendly. I would stay again.

United KingdomPillows were not a brilliant quality and we did have to ask for extras as there were only 1 pillow per bed (and were quite lumpy and uncomfortable) the socket to the left of the bed was broke and unusable but this may not have been reported prior to our arrival. The lamp in the kitchenette was also not working but did not cause an issue as there were plenty of alternative light options. Some minor things could be addressed for improvements but there were more pro's than con's overall.
Kitchenette was a great feature but an option to purchase a family crockery set on arrival / have them provided in the room would be useful. Shower was good and temperature great, addition of hairdryer was really useful. Additional storage space for clothes/belongings (especially for a family) would be beneficial.

FranceGreat to have a fridge and hot plate however they did not work. Light came on in fridge but it was not cooling. The bed was a little rickety but we both slept ok once it had quietened down which wasn’t too late. The building is echoey so any noise carries. A few signs encouraging people to not slam doors and shout etc would go a long way. It was very clean on the whole but they seemed to miss the back of the toilet door, which was far from it. Restaurant was far too noisy but we fancied a walk so found somewhere else.
Really good location for taking a walk along the prom after a long drive. Easy to get to the car ferries by car with Sat Nav. Restaurant seemed a little noisy so we chose the lovely and reasonably priced Punjab restaurant only 10mins away on foot. Room very bright and spacious not stuffy like the motorway motels

GermanyWe use the hotel as a stop over for our connection between England and Germany. The room was okay for a one night stay, the beds are quite hard and it is in general a bit worn down, but it was clean and the staff is really nice. The breakfast was really good and the location just a few steps from the seaside is just brillant for an early morning walk.

United KingdomBedding pillows were not very comfortable and odd shape giving us neck strain. Mattress was also on a v. firm side.
That hotel is managed and administered by adjacent Hotel de La Plage. Although description states this hotel has restaurant facilities it is in fact the other hotel that has active restaurant and booking desk. Room was spacious and surprisingly equipped with a mini kitchenette with a fridge, microwave and a kettle. Whilst this maybe a bonus, it is somewhat pointless, as there are no utensils, plates, cups and such like. So unless you know what isn't provided, you may bring your own, or choose not to use those facilities.
