Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomIt was a bit difficult (though we understand the reason) that the bathroom is downstairs — take slippers, as the tiles are cold on bare feet!. But it’s a nice bathroom, though some bigger towels would have been nice.
Very comfortable bedrooms. Lovely furniture. especially in the main bedroom. Well-equipped kitchen. When I first wrote these comments, I didn’t comment on the location, because Lincoln is my original home city, my brother lives nearby, and I already knew the location is ideal. For new visitors to Lincoln, then — it is ideally located for the Cathedral, castle, etc… and West Common, for walking your dog.

United KingdomNothing really but would say remember to bring your chargers for phones including plugs. (not a negitive comment just a heads up).
Beautifully clean. Everything was there that you would need including tea and coffee for arrival. The bedding was lovely the bed comfortable. Towels clean and fresh. The bathroom was roomy with both a bath and shower. The kitchen had enough plates cups and saucepans etc. Cleaning supplies. The fridge was very big as was the freezer under. There is also a washing machine. Good size dinning table. The lounge was bijou but enough room to sit 5 adults comfortably. Tv, side lamp and coffee table. I would stay here again. The owner of the property is friendly and accomodating. The property is near everything you need so once you are parked you can walk. Pubs restaurants shopping all very near. Castle, Cathedral, museum very close by.

United KingdomParking was a bit challenging at times. Very narrow street and had to park in next street at one time so packing car was a bit difficult. Also the back yard photos a bit deceiving. We had a dog but the yard was tiny and the photo was of the open communal area. Mind, would be lovely in summer but you wouldn't be able to let off lead there. Saying that we'd definitely stay again if came to Lincoln.
Very clean and good facilities. The milk/biscuits in the fridge was a lovely gesture. Bedrooms huge . If you wanted to cook the kitchen was well supplied. Great location to walk to castle and cathedral and lovely surroundings.

CanadaThe stove/oven could use better instructions. In Canada the stove/oven is all electric or all gas. This one the stove top was gas but apparently the oven was electric. So when we turn on the oven to warm up our sausage rolls and expected gas heat we worried that the gas was going but no flame but no smell either?? and thought we would blow up the place. So we went to the friendly neighbour right away and she explained no worries, oven ran on electric. With relief and a little laugh all good.
The location was excellent. Short walk to the cathedral/castle, restaurants, small grocery store, take aways. Museum of Lincolnshire Life was around the corner and fantastic. There is local bus so easy to get around farther afield. The place was very nice and fully equipped with whatever we needed, good lightening, comfy and wifi dependable (important to my daughter) The neighbours were very friendly and helpful with advise and directions. The hosts left a detailed booklet with alot of good tips and info of the area.

United KingdomIf I had to criticise anything it's just that the living room is very small, but you can get 5 people in. It's a shame as the rest of the cottage actually has surprisingly generous proportions. But it's difficult to change unless you swapped a bedroom and sitting room. The garden is lovely to sit in on a summers evening but not secure for the dogs. Not a huge problem, just a comment so people know what to expect.
Very comfortable and perfect for our stay, great location for exploring Lincoln... We're from Lincoln but it's all new for the Grandson. Its a beautiful property and the upstairs is so spacious. It was also lovely and quiet which I didn't expect as so close to amenities and you can't hear the neighbours.

United KingdomEverything was wonderful, but a couple of things that we found were missing when cooking that would’ve been greatly appreciated, were a frying pan and some cooking oil. There also wasn’t any sugar for hot drinks, but tea, coffee and milk were provided. However, there’s a shop nearby so we could pick up some basic food items we needed.
The property is in a lovely, quiet area, a short walk from the bustling Bailgate area. It’s the perfect location for a base when exploring Lincoln Castle or Cathedral and has plenty of nearby pubs and restaurants too. the neighbours are very friendly too and we chatted with a few of them about the history of the area, which was fascinating. The property itself is clean and comfortable, with most of the basics you need to get started. The facilities were fantastic and it really did feel like a home from home - I’ll definitely be recommending to other family members.
