Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomLow staff presence at breakfast- they were very short handed . Looked like staff hadn’t turned in - they just about coped but it made us quite late by approx 30 mins - a long wait for breakfast- sadly
Delighted to have an upgrade - the baby cot was unexpected as we are mid 50s lol

United KingdomBreakfast was like a slapstick vintage comedy. Is it so hard to give your paying guests there coffee or tea at breakfast time within a few mins of being seated. We don’t ask for much. 20 mins later still waiting. Wasn’t that busy. No direction from the manageress. It was only like that on the last day. Also the first day at breakfast they didn’t recognise our room number. They had to phone reception for confirmation. Also they didn’t clean the room as they didn’t think anyone was in the room until I complained. Apart from that it was fine.
Modern and good location with parking.

United KingdomSome of the fixtures could use some updating. The door handle for the ensuite was loose and the bulb over the dressing table was far too dim to actually be useful.
The staff were so lovely and the room was nice and clean with a great view. It was peaceful and comfortable, and only a short walk to the town centre. I took my daughter for a little shopping trip and this was the perfect place to rest afterwards. Would recommend.

United KingdomOnly one minor room fault, which, when reprted to the reception was accepted gracefully.
The hotel location and vista was beautiful. Not cheap, but you get what you pay for which was a very high standard and professional staff.

United KingdomTuck shop in room was very overpriced. Didnt bother me too much this time as I didn't have children with me but wouldn't have wanted it in the room tempting them if they were. Lighting in the room was a little dark for getting ready but there was a lighting mirror in the bathroom
Great location just inside the city walls. Had a great view out to Chester race course. Bathroom was very spacious with a bath and shower. Bed... the bed was huge and one of the comfiest hotel beds I've ever slept in. The room was well soundproofed, didn't hear a sound all night! Hairdryer and coffee facilities provided and long mirror.

Well positioned hotel and excellent rooms. We were in a balcony room overlooking the road but there was no traffic noise and we experienced a really good nights sleep! The breakfast had a really good choice and was excellent. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff.

United KingdomAll of the hidden costs (or written in small print so that you couldn't see it!): Parking charges £10 per night Sun-Thurs £12.50 per night Fri-Sat. This needs to be clearly put on the booking page. Charges for food in the room - there is a tray with lots of goodies on ie coke, crisps, water, chocolate, biscuits but these are at a cost though - the price list was hidden behind so no way of seeing it even though the tray is on the dressing table.. Free tea & coffee etc was hidden in the wardrobe! I think the chargeable goods need to be in the wardrobe & the freebies on the dressing table so no confusion or at the very least the price list needs to be put in clear view. I was charged £2 for some water even though I explained to the receptionist that the price list was hidden so I didn't know it wasn't free (it was another guest who told us the tray of things that were out had a charge).
Very friendly, helpful staff, especially in the restaurant on our arrival who went out of their way to give us a sandwich when there was only tapas on the lunctime menu. Really comfy beds & hot shower. Lovely place, very central.
