How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

Nothing at all.
The staff were welcoming and friendly. We ate in the restaurant both nights of our stay, and the food was amazing. They catered for gluten-free, and it's the first time I've ever eaten in a restaurant without feeling as if I'm being an inconvenience. The hotel was immaculate. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will definitely return.

The car charger didn't work so had to wait for the other one to become free, though they tried everything to get it sorted.
Great room will ask for that one again on the courtyard, very helpful and friendly staff. Accommodated us with a smile

Shame about the observatory, we only booked to look through the big telescopes but unfortunately we did not have time!
Lovely little touches, like fruit and biscuits, plenty of teas, coffee and hot chocolate, also loved the toiletries, smelled Devine! Food was delicious.

One of the restaurant staff young girl, part of family, seemed really cheesed off. Didn't try to interact with customers and didn't smile, made one feel uncomfortable. A shame as all the other staff were lovely. Don't expect lots of chat and if it was one occasion OK but each time we saw her the same attitude.
Great location. Comfortable clean rooms. Meals good not top restaurant but better than pub fare. Staff helpful. Dark observatory tour very good. Roy was excellent

Paintwork on walls and skirting needed tidying up. Foisty smell in room. Quilt a bit heavy and also needed it to be a king-size for a double bed
Comfortable room , super shower and bath, endless hot water. Very good tasty breakfast.Good selection of hot drinks , lovely biscuits and fresh fruit in your room. Friendly staff and a good location. Overall a super stay.

Lovely warm room. Comfortable bed , slept well as very quiet . Nice shower . Food on dinner menu was amazing . The quality of food would beat any restaurant in a big city. Inventive menu sourcing local produce .

We did the night sky 2 hours but due to cloud cover did not see much, just a couple of stars in the break in the cloud Just bad luck & the British weather, we were both looking forward to a better experience

An amazing stay from start to finish. My kids loved the extra touches in the room. The kids activity box kept them busy for a good hour. Also the fruit was a welcome touch and also the juice option for the little ones. Breakfast was excellent and dinner also. The staff were so friendly. We had a wonderful stay.

Size of my dessert was minuscule and overpriced at £7.25, for what was in essence a small piece of flapjack with a little ice cream and a few nuts. Not much in Wark itself apart from some good walks, but we didn’t have the weather for walking much, in mid March.
Breakfast was excellent with a great choice of cereals, fried food, etc. Dessert was a bit stingy and disappointing, and overpriced.

We stayed 3 nights and by the 3rd night we were struggling slightly with the dinner menu choices - though I repeat, everything we did have was very good. Perhaps having a nightly 'Special' would broaden the options though we appreciate this may not be economically viable.
The staff were super friendly and accommodating. Very dog friendly - the doggy welcome pack a lovely touch. The lodge room was very spacious and comfortable, nicely appointed and well equipped. Nice touches such as the range of tea /coffee, the fresh milk, fruit and water in the little fridge was great and the biscuits were divine - all replenished daily if you wish! The standard of food at breakfast and dinner was excellent.
