How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

We were given an upgrade on arrival. Place was spotless, extremely comfortable bed, powerful shower and beautiful views. Breakfast amazing, quality produce used. Owners very friendly. Location only a short walk from town.

We could hear the other guests coming and going...some were moving about from 630am onwards. Breakfast was an additional £15pp per morning. We felt that was quite expensive and declined the offer. Considering most of the accommodation we stayed in on our holiday breakfast was included and the price per night was alot cheaper.
Beinn Bhracaigh was in the perfect location. Close to all the local amenities, and also several local walks right on your doorstep. We loved the honesty bar provided it was a nice space to relax in each evening. Our trip was part of our honeymoon and the hosts even gave us a wedding card a lovely touch. Much appreciated. All communications prior to arrival were really good and helpful

This is the most we've ever paid for a bed and breakfast and unfortunately we didn't think it was worth the price for which I will explain. The first impression of the b and b was untidy with lots of weeds in the gravel and no flowers at the entrance (as a friendly greeting), however the inside was welcoming. When we got to our room, it was not the room we thought we had booked which was a little disappointing. (As we were both tired we didn't want to make a fuss about it) so we sat/laid on the bed and looked out of the window but all we saw was a brick wall which was a shame because if the bed had been positioned to face the window the view would have been so much better, looking towards the trees. We went to sit in the garden and the grass was long and untidy, the host had said that they'd had good weather for a few weeks so we couldn't understand why it hadn't been cut. Also on the website pictures it shows parasols over the garden tables but there was none. When we went to breakfast on the first morning there was no fruit just three apples in a bowl. Also no yogurts. That morning we felt as if we were a hindrance to the host. The next day the breakfast counter had chopped fruit and yogurts, as you would expect, just a shame the first morning was a let down. Overall we were disappointed in the presentation of the property it could have been far better. We got the impression that the host didn't want to do it anymore.

Parking and being greeted by owner to move car into extremely tight parking spaces. Dont want to spend nights away worrying about someone hitting my car or being trapped in which he said he couldn't guarantee we wouldn't be. Also when booking breakfast was available, once booked not available due to too many people in dining room (covid)
Room very clean. Hotel very clean.

Just felt down , he wasn’t happy we were late on first night , my partner work late , we told him , we said sorry , ! At first room was nice , not room I ask for , toilet didn’t work , couldn’t get shower at 10 at night , water was freezing, and we never seen as much of James , Kirsty , a shame lovely place just didn’t feel it 🥴plus I suffer from iih ,wasn’t feeling great this morning , felt rushed , 10:30 out , so for money it wasn’t worth it ,
