It was all good. I can't fault this 3-star hotel.

A clean, comfortable, and well presented 3-star hotel with 5-star staff. The staff make the experience and in this case they made it a grand one. Friendly, helpful, chatty, and polite. They are all absolute stars. From arrival to departure, my experience and that which I could see around me was nothing but utterly professional.

No comfy area to have a drink, only hard seating or booths in the bar / restaurant where you had eaten. Breakfast had to be pre-ordered 🤔 why? Breakfast was poor, luke warm, wasn't even offered tea / toast, other tables seemed to get.

Location was handy for shopping. Room was clean and functional. Water pressure in shower was excellent.

The food in the restaurant is poor which suggest low quality ingredients/ cooking. Weekday cooked breakfasts are really poor - perhaps because they must be preordered the night before. Saturday breakfast was freshly cooked and so much better!

Well situated for visiting friends in the area. The room was very spacious and clean if a little tired and due a decorative refresh. Good Saturday breakfast. Also in terms of service, the young lady on reception was first class - exceptionally helpful - nothing was too much trouble including arranging cabs etc.

For the price, cant really moan. Rooms are a bit dated. Breakfast was average, but again price reflected it.

I wasn’t happy with the bathroom although it was modern and clean. As soon as you had a shower there was nowhere for the steam to go and eventually creeped out into the bedroom. No good when 3 people needed showers.

Hotel staff/other facilities are lovely and you get a good nights sleep on the comfortable beds. They seemed very clean and well presented.

I thi k the a over comments clarifies my opinion. Have in the past spent several years of my professional life in hotels of various standards, having used Best Western on many occasions in the past, this hotel to me did not reflect what I considered to be the BW Standard of old.

As a single traveller although the room was a double it was adequate for one person two would have been a crush. The food was average with £15 for haddock amd chips where the chips had to be cut in half to make the portion match the portion of fish. Plus the chips were frozen .when the local chips hope can provide properer potatoes at lest than half the price. This together with relatively poor quality wine at £8 per glass (large) the meal was far from a memoral experience. The following morning having ordered a full breakfast this also a less than memoral experience although different with the first for me having a single egg omelet style egg served with a full breakfast. ( I was not asked what sort of egg I required when having to order my breakfast the night before) this was less than ideal with so.e elements of the breakfast being of a reasonable quality with others just average.

There was a party night on when we got back to the room which was a bit noisy but finished at 12.30 so it wasn't too bad.

It's a nice hotel, the beds where a bit too firm for me but that's always personal choice. Room was clean and well equipped as was the bathroom. Temperature of the room was easily controlled and nice and cosy when we arrived. We've stayed before and we will stay again.

Sound proofing left a lot to be desired. Conversations in the corridor was loud enough to be heard and understood in the room. The occasional argument was even worse. this was discernible up to about 1:30am, and from a bout 5am onwards.

The location was ideal for the purpose of our visit. Friendly and very helpful staff. Plenty of space for parking. The service and the food was excellent at the function we attended.

The room was very compact. Not a lot of room to manoeuvre between the end of the bed and the desk area. Not alot of room on either side of the bed either.The walls and skirting boards were in need of a paint as they were stained , scratched and black marks.The bath was very slippery and no handles to help you get in or out an older person would have great difficulty getting in and out the bath , the shower was also inside the bath . This is our 3rd visit to the hotel over the past 2 years. I felt for the price I was charged things could be better.

The hotel is very central to shops and a very good shopping centre. Staff are very helpful and friendly. The restaurant food was lovely., as were the staff .The room was very clean as was the bathroom with plenty of hot water and a good powerful shower..

The location was great - not in Edinburgh but with only a little effort we drove to a nearby station, parked and took the train. Thanks to a wonderfully helpful front desk staff member this became an easy task to do. We had one dinner and two breakfasts, all excellent. We were late checking in and had missed dinner time but the manager took the trouble to go to the kitchen and organise something more than adequate for us. Parking was free which wasn't going to be the case if we had had stayed in Edinburgh.
